Why are republicans "racist" for quoting facts, but dems not for saying minorities can't keep up on own?

Nobody ever said 'they can't make it on their own'. Who ever told you that? I suppose that you never heard of the Bakke Decision either. Check it out. Affirmative Action in colleges was designed to open up schools in size and scope and to do away with a whites only policy. Black taxpayers who's taxes supported state own colleges complained that these schools purposely denied black students entry. Women routinely were turned away from law and medical schools so the slots could be held open for men. Affirmative Action changed that. Affirmative Action also did away with 'quotas' for accepting Jews and asians. Affirmative Action made it illegal to deny blacks and women the right to take competitive exams for government positions. Before 1965 few police or fire departments would allow a black man to even take a competitive exam, much less a black woman. Industries with government contracts could legally deny a black person a job...just because that person was black. That changed and other industries soon followed suit. The list goes on. I suppose you'd have had to live back in the days just after Jim Crow laws were legally recinded, but the 'white power structure' as it was called in that day, still discriminated against blacks, asians, Jews and women...not to mention gays. Affirmative action laws never would have been adopted if racists never existed, but they did. A lot of history has happened since 1965...that's 44 years, and a lot of has happened to Affirmative Action as well. People still rail against this unfortunately needed set of laws as if they're the same today as almost a half century ago. That's dishonest and bogus. Back in the day it was terribly unjust for a lot of people and steps were taken to correct that injustice. Were the corrections sometimes ham handed? Yes. That's what the Bakke Decision was all about. If a person wants to believe that nothing has changed over the years that's okay with me....but they're wrong. Now you know the rest of the story!

Republicans are labeled racist because it is the only thing that the opposing side can resort to when faced with facts about affirmative action or how welfare doesn't help people, it hurts people. They think that by throwing in the race card, it will discredit anything a Republican says on the issue and will automatically paint the Dem as the "good guy" who is defending minorities. By the way, I'm not white.

No, I remember that America hated Obamacare so bad that they gave the safest Democratic seat in America (Ted Kennedy) to a Republican to block it! Yet, Obama used shady Chicago tactics to ram it through anyways. Obama not only broke his pledge to NEVER pass legislation without 60 votes in the Senate, but used reconciliation to pass the legislation instead of what it was written for (only to adjust dollar amounts of passed bills). Plus he had to buy off several states to even get that done. The result is not what liberals wanted. Now the people in the 'bought off' states have better healthcare than everyone else. Does THAT fit the liberal platform?

WHERE are all these "liberals" saying that "black people can't keep on own"??? Where is it?! This is just a Rant from you and those like you. Why are so MANY of you on this darn website so RACIST and hateful of other groups of people?! It's seriously disgusting, SERIOUSLY! And WHY don't any of you ever speak of how AA benefits WHITE women too? How come you never mention that? Look up ALL the people that it helps and see for yourself. Many white women would have not had jobs if not for AA. You can't hold black people down anymore, they are going to rise in the world just like they are doing right now! You'll never in your life see the kind of money that Oprah Winfrey makes. That woman went to college, graduated, and has her own empire now. And black ballplayers have skills which got them to where they are. What good is AA if you ain't got skills?! You racists really come out of the woodwork more than not around here. Geez!

We allowed it to happen. People are so afraid of offending that they allow the truth to be suppressed. I am from Hawaii and we tease everyone but respect everyone as well. When I moved to California I was labeled racist. Lol. I couldn't give a damn one way or another because whenever the cry of racism is used it is only to get something for nothing or to get out of a bind. But until the people stand up and use common sense in dealing with all races it will not change.

Yeah, I know. I think in general, many (not all, thankfully) minorities "buy" the whining liberals cry for racial equality. But if you go out into the rich suburbs where lots of the liberals live, you'll see that the only day-to-day dealings with minorities most of them have is ordering the cleaning women and gardeners around. Wow, that really "equalizes" things.

Isn't it interesting how so many people from poor beginnings have managed to make it without handouts. Yet, when you talk to your upper middle class yuppie, they can't stop talking about how s-o-r-r-y they feel for the poor, poor, blacks and poor, poor hispanics. (But if there is a white person in poverty, well their just inbred low life scum.)
