my dog knows something is wrong but still does it?
my dog is about 2 years. beagle/shephard. he is very well trained and the most loving ever. The only thing I dont' understand is why he chooses to disobey when he knows its wrong. When ever I come home he always greets me at the door. I found though, when he has done something I wouldnt like.. when I walk in the door he is hiding from me. So I go search and turns out he has usually deficated, or got into people food or something. so I dont see if he knows hes gna get yelled at, why does he do it?

I have a 2 year old beagle and i tell ya, that trait comes from the beagle. My dog does the exact same thing. I will tell you why, or at least why I THINK they do it.
When u were little and your mom told you not to go somewhere or not to do something doesn't that just make you all the more curious about what is so special about that place that u can't see it. It is the same with the dog. Curiosity overides him- he is probably thinking what is so special that even i can't have it or eat it or whatever. i know this because one time i gave me dog a piece of carrot in his food bowl and he just ignored it. Then i took a different carrot and pretended to start to eat it. I would tell him to stay away and not let him have it. That just made him want it more, and when i turned around he stole my carrot as if it was the most valuable thing in the world.
My beagle whenever he does something bad always hides and when i catch him he will roll over and act all cute and innocent as if trying to suck up to me. for example, yesterday i saw him chewing my purse, and i started chasing him. when he discovered he was cornered he gave up and rolled over, belly up, tounge lolling out, trying to act like the cutest thing in the world.
dont feel you are the only one facing these problems, it is just their personality. Beagles are very curious dogs. I try to stop him all the time, but he just keeps doing it. i have tried pretending that the food is not that valuable and start pretending his toys are really special and only i can have them. that usually works! sometims it does sometimes it doesn't! I would also excersize him a lot more. try to give him special attention as mucha s psossible. i would also play with his toys and try to make a big fuss over them. I hope this helped and good luck with your dog. Is he really cute, im sure he is-all dogs are! LOL! Good luck!

Put the people food out of the dog's reach, and maybe come home or have someone come in around noon or whenever the middle of your workday happens to be, and take the dog out to potty. Both of these are things that are more of an owner issue. He can't help it if he has to poop and can no longer hold it. If you have kids that leave people food out, discipline the kids, not the dog. A good spanking will teach kids to start putting food up.

Dogs don't think a head to the fact that when you come home you will be mad, you can not punish a dog after the fact, just keep the stuff he gets into out of they way or try crating him. Dogs do not have the train of thought to plan ahead. They just know that sometimes you come home and are angry and sometimes you aren't they have no idea why you are mad or not.

It sounds like he gets bored and when dogs get bored they get destructive. I would recommend that you exercise him more so that while you're gone at work, he'll just lounge around and sleep most of the day. He should have about an hour long walk every single morning.

he is bored, so he finds something to do. don't go away for as long. and get him some stimulating toys. also exercise him before you leave, that way he rests for part of the time, and you could leave some fun toys like kongs around for him to find. and the ppl food, get like baby locks if he can open the cabinets.
