    y in terms of x—1st & 2nd equations:

    2x + 5y = 20

    y = (20 - 2x)/5

    3x + 2y = 19

    y = (19 - 3x)/2

    Value of x:

    2(20 - 2x) = 5(19 - 3x)

    40 - 4x = 95 - 15x

    11x = 55

    x = 5

    Value of y (1st equation):

    = (20 - 2[5])/5

    = (20 - 10)/5

    = 10/5 or 2

    Answer: x = 5, y = 2

    Proof (2nd equation):

    3(5) + 2(2) = 19

    15 + 4 = 19

    19 = 19
