  • Australia's military commitment during WW1 and WW2 - which was greater?

Ok, so i know that in WW1 Australia had 5 divisions and a total of about 330,000 troops .. well, it was over 300,000 anyway.

I heard on a documentary the other night that in WW2 over 500,000 Australians were in the army but I thought that they only had 4 divisions then? - divisions 6-9. And of course there was the 39th and 51st militia battalions in Kokoda

Am i missing something? Did i get some of my info wrong?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Classical composers of the twentieth century?

I'm writing a research assignment and it needs to be on a composer from the 20th century. There also needs to be some sort of political message behind the music - it might be pro war or against a government's policy in some way. I know of Shostakovitch, but no one else. Any help is much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance =)

  • Any composers of classical music who wrote in the 20th century?

I'm doing a research assignment and It's got to be on a composer from the 20th century and there needs to be a political message behind it. For example, the composer may be trying to condemn an action of a government or support it - pro or anti-war.

    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Some Classical music to listen to?

Ok, I really like pieces by Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Chopin and other Romantic composers.

    What would you recommend?

I already have Liszt consolations and liebestraums as well as Rach preludes and piano concertos + paginini and several Chopin waltzes.

Is it the question of hope?

  • Please help!: If you are an Australian Buddhist or know of a site with an interview with one?

Im doing an assignment for SOR (study of religion) and as part of it i need to know a bit about how buddhists in australia live out their faith and how it affects their life.

I've looked over the net and can't find anything relevant.

So, if you are an Australian Buddhist please tell me your view on any or all of the following:

    1. suffering

    2. Do you prepare food in a particular way?

    3. Do you have any daily/weekly ceremonies or rituals you conduct?

    4. How does life in Australia effect/change you?

Thanks in advance and please excuse my ignorance!

  • HELP DUE ON FRIDAY!!!!MATHS!!!!!!?

Three fashion conscious young women were downtown shopping one day when they saw a hat that they all liked, priced at $170. The each checked their purses.

1.The first said to the other two: "If you lend me half of what you have I can but the hat!"

    2. The second said to the other two: "If you lend me one-third of what you have, I could buy the hat!

But, said the third lady, "If you both lend me one quarter of what you have I could buy the hat!"

How much did they each have in their purses?

Don't just give an answer, show working please.

    This is urgent!
