Australia's military commitment during WW1 and WW2 - which was greater?

Ok, so i know that in WW1 Australia had 5 divisions and a total of about 330,000 troops .. well, it was over 300,000 anyway.

I heard on a documentary the other night that in WW2 over 500,000 Australians were in the army but I thought that they only had 4 divisions then? - divisions 6-9. And of course there was the 39th and 51st militia battalions in Kokoda

Am i missing something? Did i get some of my info wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Update:

@Dom: I'm well aware of the changes that took place in Australia's foreign policy in 1942 - simply wanted to know what the deal was with numbers of troops, divisions and where troops were e.g. RAAF, AIF etc

In WWI the Aussies followed in war because of its British connection but WWII it was in their back yard

so it had troops in both places but the Pacific was mainly a U.S. commitment.
