Need some ideas on how to convince the mom!?
I have been taking riding lessons for 8 years and am going to college to be a trainer. I have been trying to convince my mom to let me get a horse ever since I was little, but she always thought I would outgrow my obsessions...wrong, I am still going strong. Now her excuse is we dont have enough money, but when I was 9 I had an accident and got my foot cut open, anyway we are getting 45,000 dollars for it and she says its going for college money. Although I am really good at track and am hoping for a full ride to school, she is set on me not buying a horse with my money, my friend offered me her horse for free, and that i could keep it at her barn for 100 a month (including vet) and she said no...any ideas on how to convince her?

I went through this years ago with my dad. He never did like the idea of me having a horse. To this day, he doesn't like horses. Fortunately, my mom was thrilled that I wanted a horse, and gave me the opportunity to own and show when I was a young girl and teenager.
You don't say how old you are, but, what if you got a job? The more you show your mom that you are a responsible young adult, the more likely she is to give in. If you prove that she won't have to put any of her own money or time into your horse, then she may change her mind.
I assume she pays for your riding lessons. Why don't you suggest that she quit paying for the lessons and help contribute to your "horse fund"? If you take riding lessons at a stable, why not ask them if you could work for them in exchange for keeping a horse there? If that doesn't work, try other stables. I've known many stables in our area to help out kids who are responsible, that want a horse, but can't afford to keep one.
If you have tried everything you can think of, and you still can't get your mom to budge, then you might have to accept the fact that your dream of owning a horse isn't going to happen for a while. Instead of owning your own horse you may have to settle for taking your riding lessons, and maybe donating some time at a local stable or horse farm. These alternatives are better than nothing, after all.
Remember, you can't control how your mom feels about this. You can only help her to see that this will benefit you. After all, it is good, clean fun, that will keep you out of trouble! Be responsible, and show your mom you can do this! Good luck!

Sorry, your mom has made her decision and she is obviously going to stick with it. She had obviously said no for a reason. Maybe she is keeping the 45k for something in the Future like a house that is a need instead of a want. And to be honest, that 45k will run out very soon. Like say 5k for the actual horse, then 1.2k a year boarding, then feed( Which is very expensive) and tack! Think about it. That money will last you little more than a year. I know how much you want one, because i am 15 years old, and want one just as bad. But im planning a horse in my future, where i will be able to look after it as if it was my own. How abut finishing collage then when you got a good job, buy a horse? You'd love it a whole lot better if you'd bought it and looked after it 100% yourself. Good luck.

Horses are insanely expensive and a LOT of work. If you're going off to college soon I definitely wouldn't get one because as soon as you start to trust each other and get somewhere with training, you're going to have to leave.
It seems like this is an ongoing argument, in which case I don't think that as some random person on the internet who's never met you or your mother will be able to tell you how to convince her.
And NEVER take a free horse just because it's cheap and you're desperate. If it's free there's probably a reason.

If it's your money, then why can't you take it and just buy a horse with it? If it's technically your money then your mom shoulldn't be able to do anything with it. If it is legally hers, then sorry... you're in a bind. Besides, the chances are you will most likely have to sell your horse once you get to college... I have known a lot of people in that particular situation. I know this is not what you want to hear. I'm sorry.

I would wait until you're done with your first year of college and are really sure that it's what you want to do. Make sure you have all of your college taken care of before you spend that money on a horse. write an essay or figure out costs so that your mom knows that you really understand the costs. good luck!

To put it bluntly You sound too i mature to own a horse. I doubt that your mom is wrong !
When you grow up enough and start out on your own then you can buy a horse but I shutter to think of the consequences for that horse unless you grow up a whole lot between then and now!
Haven't you asked this several times before?

you will possibly be able to desire to write an essay or make a powerpoint/open workplace presentation. Thats what I do whilst i prefer some thing, it works each and every time! I even have been given a 10 gallon tank and goldfish with that approach! the only different element that comprises techniques is to continuously be telling her new preparation you come across approximately them, or discover the finished initiate value and month-to-month value of possessing one. ~wish this permits!

If your mum doesn't want to pay for a horse then that's her choice, they are very expensive.
There's a difference between your mum paying for you to go to college and getting you a horse, my mum pays for everything me and my brother really need when it's quite expensive because that's what she saves for, she wouldn't waste it on a horse - I pay for him myself.
Surely if you're off to college you're old enough to sort yourself out and start buying your own instead of taking off your mum all the time?

Hate to say it but she is the parent and you are the child. Have to respect her decision. Don't have to like it, but respect it. Maybe after your first year of college she will change her mind. But sadly not much you can do until you move out on your own.
