Which fuel type should I use?
Hi i have a 1986 nissan 300zx. I'm in a little confusion as to which grade of fuel to put into it. the original manual says to use at least 87 aki (regular) but i specifically asked the dealer when I bought it and I was told premium or mid grade. I would like to be able to use regular for the most part but I obviously don't want to damage the engine. Any thoughts?

The worst using regular fuel could do is make you lose a few horsepower. Engines are optimized for a certain fuel type, so a civic wouldn't gain horsepower using premium, but a bmw would. If the dealer said use a higher grade, they might know something that wasn't in the manual for some reason, but lower grade won't hurt the engine.

Use 87.
87 is mid-grade in many areas. Chevron or BP has the best gas if you ask me.

you will be fine with regular
may i recommend chevron with techron
no joke very good for cleaning engine and maintaining its health
also use an octane booster and fuel additive occasionally.
