why do people give thumbs down to answers even when they are obviously correct?

I think one reason is a thumbs down is given by the asker because even though the answer was correct, its no what they really wanted to hear.

Another is there are people who, if they disagree with your answer, will give you a thumb down. It doesn't mean your wrong..just they didn't like the answer or felt theirs was better.

I only give thumbs down on blatantly bad answers or insulting ones. And especially those that post "IDK"

They do it because they can, it is as simple as that. There are some people on here who do it all the time, even when the answer is correct and probably brilliant. The idea of thumbs down is to show that you disagree with the answer not just thumbs down out of badness.

1. People don't want the other person to have an extra 1 point.

2. They are selfish

3. They think their answers are more better then theirs

4. They think the answer is incorrect

5. They want to be the only thumbs up person answering

6. They felt like it

7. They think the answer is much more better then theirs

8. They don't like that person

9. They think their cool

10. They want to get more points then them.

I might give thumbs down to answers even if they are (In my opinion) technically correct if they are:

- simple answers without any explanations to back it up

- answers that contain unnecessary rudeness

- answers that anwer the letter but not the spirit of the question

- the answer is overly complicated and more likely to confuse the asker than to explain a simple fact

The reasons why people who give thumbs down to answers which are correct are:

They are jealous of other users

They are immature

They are stupid

They are Selfish

They are Rude

and They think they are better then everyone else.

REASONS ARE :

a) they think they can give superior answer

b) they dont want any1 to beat him/her in points..(as giving thumb down decreses the points of corresponding prsn)

c) they r selfish or rude

d) sycho problem

e) they r egoistics nd arrognt

trolls, boredom, they feel powerful? lol. lots of reasons
