Why does Obama need money for a grass root movement to pass Health Care Reform?
I just received an e mail from Obama asking for money for this. Why can't he get a backbone and push this Congress into passing health care reform.
In keeping with full disclosure, I voted for Obama, but this is an issue where the rubber meets the road.
Lux, the grass root movement came with the campaign, and this was one if his main pltform issues.
Angry, No It came from his offical site.
Stand corrected, It did come from a commitee of the DNC. Same arguement applies.
No, not sorry I voted for him, given the alternatives. Just strongly disagree with his handleing of this issue.
Gee, Bev, I would love to discuss this with you in depth, but you don't allow e mails. LOL
Patroit & JGF Finally, thank you.

Because he's a liar and a fraud. He doesn't need your money and whatever you give it will probably be a drop in the bucket compared to what the health care industry gave him.

He and his cronies are simply trying to bring in money by playing on your sensitivities.
This is as good a time as any to realize the truth about Barack Obama.
Single payer is the only real choice. Obama does not want that because he's a corporate tool just like the rest of the Washington crowd
Single payer health care is the smartest and most efficient choice. I fully support it.
From an article of February 2007
"The majority of the American people want a single-payer health care system Medicare for all.
The majority of doctors want it.
A good chunk of hospital CEOs want it.
But what they want doesn't appear to matter.
Why?
Because a single-payer health care plan would mean the death of the private health insurance industry and reduced profits for the pharmaceutical industry.
Presidential candidates John Edwards, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Mitt Romney and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger talk a lot about universal health care.
But not one of them advocates for single-payer because single-payer too directly confronts the big corporate interests profiting off the miserable health care system we are currently saddled with."

The problem with Americas healthcare system is the corporate obsession with profit over people. The equation can be changed with a single payer plan, which the majority of Americans support.
Almost 30 key lawmakers helping draft landmark health-care legislation have financial holdings in the industry, totaling nearly $11 million worth of personal investments in a sector that could be dramatically reshaped by this summer's debate.

Actually, the statement that it was Pelosi's suggestion is incorrect. It was a suggestion of the Heritage Foundation and the Republicans back in 1993 with their alternative reform plan to Hillary's. Although he might have gotten it passed without it, it would have doomed the act from the very beginning. The main driver of health care costs today is paying for the bills of the uninsured. Without insisting that everyone belong to the group, costs would not be spread over enough people to make it affordable. The Swiss figured this out 20 years ago and passed a plan with a mandate that is very similar to "Obamacare". It's working quite well over there, but they admitted from the beginning that it couldn't be an opt-in plan and still contain costs.

First of all, Obama is not going to bring in universal healthcare. He wants to make insurance more available to all.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

Perhaps you don't know much about politics. The opposition will spend millions on ads trying to convince the public we don't need health care reform. We saw this in the 1990s.
I'd suggest you do more research and less griping.

All political movements need a strong grass roots support system. Especially one as monumental and overarching as health care reform
edit: Right, so it's only expected that those same people shoudl be willing to put in the foot work after Obama was elected too, isn't it?

He's using Chicago politics tactics. Make it appear like the people are united for the cause when in reality the bosses are pushing the buttons.

The more money the government controls, the more they control the people. He can't push congress because "we" the people believe this to be a very bad idea. Less than 1/4 of the population voted in this socialist, and so he is skating on thin ice as it is.

He has to use his goon squads to motivate the non-contributors of society to push their congressmen to pass health care legislation. You've got to understand that you can't convince the people who are getting something for nothing.
You have to go for the middle class...the people who will literally be affected the most by the tax hikes due to Obama's health care reform.
The rich don't care because they'll still go see their private doctors.

The Democratic National Committee sent that email, not Obama. Do as I do and toss it if you don't agree.
