Whats the best way to lose a few pounds from your waist?
Im not overweight(my waist is a 34"),Ive no pot or beer belly, however I can see and feel pounds coming on since I stopped smoking.
I do 150 crunch/situps twice a day,Ive cut out junk food and try to eat as best I can.
However not much is happening, would a rowing machine or bike machine, help burn this away?

Weight loss is all about calories
You need to burn more than you eat
So crunches/sit ups will only build some muscle (on the one muscle your working) not loose the pounds
The best thing to do would be buy an exercise bike or treadmill and use it for around 30 Min's in the morning and maybe at nighttime too or taking diet supplements that may or may not work.
And it will keep the weight off.
This will burn away those extra calories without starving yourself or going on a ridiculous diet.

First, you want to loose inches from your waist, not pounds. How would you measure pounds specifically from your waist? Not a scale.
Ok...basic fitness 101.
You use cardio exercises to reduce bodyfat. Cardio, meaning, anything that gives you a sustained 2x resting heartrate for 15(min) - 45 minute (preferred) time period. Under 2x resting heartrate, and your NOT reducing fat, your only conditioning muscle.
To build muscles (toning), you need to do resistance exercises that contract, and extend the muscle or muscle group - beyond normal ranges. (making all those ab machines and contraptions worthless).
To keep your fat off, and allow your work to show, you need to be mindful of your nutrition and calorie intake. A lower then normal calorie intake, with high nutritional value is the key. But don't go cutting 500 calories or more. 250 is more then enough to start, then reduce this to about 100ish when you are at your goal.
300 situps a day is impressive, but...well...just plain silly. Your only over-working ONE muscle. Lots more muscles are involved with core. Also, do every other day workouts for core. Muscles need a day to re-coup. Over training a muscle is like driving on a flat tire.
Google "Core Exercises". Pick a bunch of them and do 25 reps of each. I mean...like 6 to 12 exercises. Not 2-3. You need balance and variety.

You should introduce more fiber into your diet, such as all-bran cereal or prunes. Also, eat more veggies and fruit.
