graduation invitation wording-"no really, you don't have to come..."?

I am about to graduate with a doctorate degree, and I have a few family members that i want to send an announcement/invitation to but they live far away and some of them are students-

--This is what I want it to say, but in a formal and graceful manner--

"Hey, I'm graduating! You don't have to come and you don't need to send me anything, I just care about you and wanted to give you a heads up"

Why don't you send them a picture after you graduate saying "Introducing Dr. Joe Blow.....just wanted to share my excitement of completing my doctorate with you!!!!!"

So what is your question, exactly? Do you want us to re-write your invitation? If you're graduating with a doctorate, you should certainly know how to write an invite. I very much like your ending, but the beginning leaves something to be desired. You don't invite people by telling them they don't have to come. Leave that up to them. It's okay, though, to tell them they don't have to send a gift. Here's my suggestion on how to word the first sentences:

"On (date) I'm graduating. I realize it might be difficult for you to make the trip, but I'm hoping you'll be able to come and help me celebrate. Please don't feel you have to send a gift. Your presence would be the best present. I' just care about you and wanted to give you a heads up."

Just send the invite. Let them decide whether or not to come or send gifts.
