For all true Yoga practitioner.?
I heard that when practicing yoga you must concentrate and meditate. Concentrate or meditate on what? I also heard that you must let go. Let go of what? I was in the steam room earlier today thinking these things and I even asked someone next to me and he also mentioned the same: to concentrate and meditate and keep a clear mind. If that one is also true, How do I keep a clear mind? I attempted to keep my mind blanc but something keeps coming back in my head.
Serous answers please. thanks

As far as concentrating while doing yoga, you should focus your mind on your breath and body (as you breathe and do the poses). That way, you're completely in the moment (focused on what you're doing right then), rather than letting your mind drift. So it's about thinking about what you're doing with your body (for example, common yoga postures involve lifting the kneecaps, dropping the shoulder blades, lengthening the spine, etc.) and breath (ie work on breathing deeply and being aware of your breath) and focusing on those things to the extent that you're not thinking about the past (what you did last week), the future (what's for dinner), etc. Concentration outside of yoga would involve focusing the entirety of your attention on the task at hand, whatever that may be. So really, it's not at all about making your mind "blank" or thinking happy thoughts, but rather about being attentive, focused, and in the moment by constantly being aware of what you are doing and doing it fully.
Meditation can be something different. There are various ways to meditate. Again, meditation is not about making your mind completely blank, but rather about calming and stilling the mind. Rather than simply attempting to eradicate your thoughts completely (a very difficult task), you should begin by simply being aware of your thoughts without getting caught up in them. A common way to meditate is to focus the mind on the breath (whether by counting, visualizing, or some other method), and as other thoughts come, simply let them go and bring your mind back to the breath (so, whereas normally one thought naturally leads to another then another, when meditating, you want to stop that cycle by letting go of the thought instead of following it to another one, and bringing the mind back to the breath). Focusing on the breath is just one way to meditate, but because it's a basic way, that's the one I mentioned.
And finally, concerning the idea of "letting go": people may mean various things when using that phrase (it's pretty vague), but in a yogic sense, I really think letting go is about accepting the fact that you can't always control what goes on around you or what is happening, and learning to stop trying to control things. For instance, when something goes differently than expected, people often get upset and think about how the situation is "wrong" and what it would be like if it were "right." They get so focused on the idea of how things "should" be that they cannot work with the way things actually are. So letting go is about accepting what comes along, realizing you cannot control all circumstances, and working with what's given to you.

In order to learn new things you have to keep an open mind. Meditation is supposed to help you relax. So your mind and body are attached. It's supposed to keep your mind on relaxation, like when you play tapes on soothing music like sounds of water and the sea, and birds and chimes and the like. It's like being of sound body and mind, and being able to relax yourself through both your thoughts and muscles. Not letting things that are toxic get in your way of maintaining a contemplative state. Being at peace. Maybe you need some practice in that.

You know even I do lot of Yoga but its called hatha yoga that is doing asana, i.e. doing yogic postures. I find i feel more content and peaceful bu thinking of good things rather keeping my mind blank. Concentrating on constructive and tangible goals is better than meditating with blank mind. Attempt on letting go of bitterness and avengefulness if you are irritated and angry. Try to find source of happiness within yourself, smile and be grateful to god, never take good things for granted....my god! you must think i m a philospher but no dear I m just happy and content person who do yoga postures and try to spread happiness by giving them tips on my site, if you have time please check it out...

that is precisely what some people ask me.
and my answer is - concentrate on what you are doing right now.
mediate - try not to think, its' harder than it looks , human mind is like a storm of thinking.
i suggest you download a soft called sharm, it will help you relax a lot,
nothing beats yoga and self power and control though.
