File has gone missing?

I opened a word document (MS WORD) as an email attachment, saved it and when I went to go email it back the file was completely gone! It is nowhere on my computer and I know I saved it. The last document on my computer is showing from 6-1..where could this have gone????

Update:

Hello Craig thank you for responding. I am using Yahoo email, not sure if this helps or not. So the name of the paper is RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT. That's what I am searching for. If I understand you right, this would not be showing up like that, correct??

It will be in the Temporary internet files or another temp name with a VERY long string of letters and numbers.

What email client are you using? Outlook, outlook express? They each have their own temporary files which I believe you have probably updated, i would check the temp internet files.

temp files are in a few places:

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

    OR

    c:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files

    OR

Somewhere else depending on the email client

If you can let me know the email client you use i might be able to give more details.

    Hello :)

No it will be a lot of numbers, if your using yahoo mail (I assume through a browser) then it now depends on browser if its internet explorer then its the temp file directories above (just click your way through)

    If its firefox then its C:\Documents and Settings\(user name here)\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(for me: l635vrpu.default)\Cache

there's a few there that will change but it'll be in there.. OR if it was downloaded you could check your downloads folder that you save things to and see if there's anything like it in there. in firefox still you can try CRL and Y to open your downloads.

Also I'm not sure what version of word your using but could try looking for recent documents and seeing if its there? If it is open it and save it somewhere like desktop.

    Further Further follow up:

DOH! Try Searching Research%Development.doc that might show something :)
