I am 6 weeks pregnant but cannot see my fetus in my sonogram, is that normal?

The sac is the but just cannot locate the fetus the dr. said. He wants to test my hormone levels. What could that test tell me

your baby and your sac are extremely small hince your 6 weeks pregnant.  your not going to see a baby at 6 weeks pregnant.. give it a couple of more weeks and you will be able to see a little more.  at least 8- 9 weeks you can see more.

I had an ultrasound at a Wemons clinic at about 5 weeks and all there was was a small small sac, they didn't even give me pics because you couldn't see anything but the spot, than at 7 weeks my OBGYN did one and you could just see the little sac and my uterus, than at 9 weeks I had another one by that clinic and you could finally notice where the baby actually was so I wouldn't be too worried if I were you. The Doctor may think you are not quite as far along as you origionally thought. (my dates were a little over a week off) and the sonogram picture isn't matching up with what s/he expected.. but no worries cause if it was something to worry about you doctor should have let you know. It is very common to not be as far along as you origionally thought.

There is not a fetus yet, only a sac. At 8 weeks it will be a fetus and have arm and leg nubs and a human-like form, but right now its still just a little blob (not much to see.) He probably wants to make sure that your hormone level (hcg) is doubling like it should be doing with a viable pregnancy which is a normal, fairly routine thing. Good luck.

it's normal.  it depends on how good the ultrasound machine is too.  At my 5 week 5 day appt. you could just barely see a tiny pinhead dot in the sac.  It could have been static for all I know! lol  Don't worry.  By 8 weeks you should have a better view of your little "peanut"! Take care!

The HCG test will let the doctor know if your hormones are lowering or not. If so, you are probably miscarrying. I seen my babies heartbeat at 7 weeks, so give it another couple weeks! I'm sure you're fine!

your like a month an 1/2 pregnat the baby is going to be small and in the picture  they are shaped different ......didn't the tech show you the body parts and such....good luck and congrats
