Does any one know about the 2000 Mazda Protege LX?

Has any one had dealings with the 2000 Mazda Protege LX? Opinions on safety, maintance, how it drives..etc. Its 4 door auto with power locks/windows and cd player with 76,000 miles. Is it worth $4 in your opinion? Or once I take it home will I find a bunch of problems that go along with the make.

I had a Kia Rio one time and it spent most of its time in the shop. I dont want another car that perfers to be broken.

Being used Should I take it to my shop guy to look at before completly agreeing to take it home as mine?

Update:

$4,000 not $4.00.

The Protege doesn't have a lot of recurring issues: it has a good reputation as a fairly solid little Japanese sedan.

But by all means, have your shop guy check it out, just in case someone's unloaded a money pit.

That car is definitely worth $4.00

In fact I'd be willing to spend at least $100 for it...... But not much more though because I think imports are overrated.

Definitely worth 4 grand, and if you treat it right, that car should last you another 100k miles.
