The bible says to test all things to see whether or not they are good.
I have some family in Witness Lee, and attended a family friend's "church home" for a while. They seem relatively harmless, but there are some red flags.
For one I've never felt comfortable around them, despite the fact that I've been to churches where people run around screaming as if they're on fire. Interact with them, and you might see what I mean; I've never encountered a "christian" group like them. Their literature and teachings is always written in an imperative form: in other words what they say or teach is believed to be an absolute truth to them. Furthermore, their bibles have more footnotes, than actual scripture, most of their teaching come from these notes and their interpretation of the bible, not the bible itself.
But perhaps what bothered me the most about them was that none of the Witness Lee members I have ever met have ever given me a straight answer as to who they are. I once went to one of their "retreats" and despite speaking with 20 or more people, no one could give me a straight answer - everything was rhetorical, as if from a pamphlet.
Furthermore, some of the ones in their 20's attend a training camp for two years. My sister in law is going this fall and I asked what it was all about. She gave me the same spill as they all do, but what really worried me was the fact that she said they also partook in "personality training" during this two year endeavor. On top of all this they have to pay a $6,000 tuition to attend, which with about 1,000 attending brings in revenues of $600,000. I can't help but wonder what they do with their retained earnings? It isn't mandatory for all, but people are strongly encouraged to attend, especially the younger ones. This bothers me very much because it seems like they are taking advantage of young naive people (she's 22).
Like I said, they seem relatively harmless, but I don't know why they make me feel so uncomfortable. I've never felt this way around Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Church of Christ members, Pentecosts, etc.
This is my personal experience and knowledge of them. For an objective answer, check out this link which someone inquired from Google Answers' professional paid service back in the day.

This really does sound pretty cultish. I'm sure there are well-meaning people there and I don't disagree with some of their views (i.e. watching Harry Potter), but when they are dictating these rules instead of allowing people to make decisions based on their own conscience then it is legalistic. I actually have read some Watchman Nee books and really liked them. I didn't know there was a church primarily focused on his writings. I would recommend reading Romans and Galatians (if you haven't already) and learn what God says about legalism. Legalism kills, but the Spirit of God gives life (2 Cor. 3:6). It's funny because one of the books I read by Watchman Nee was all about the Spirit. It was called Release of the Spirit. That was a really good book. Sounds like these people aren't necessarily following in the path of their spiritual mentor.
