why do people scam?? YORKIE SCAM?

I have always wanted a Yorkie Terrier. I saw an ad in the Charleston NC for two free yorkies. I emailed the lady (Nini Nouns) and we corresponded back and forth a few times. Everything sounded legit. Supposely she was traveling and was in Washington State at the time. She was going to ship the pups to me and all I had to pay was the shipping fees. I was so excited. She even sent me pictures of "Jake" and "Cindy" She said that she'd dropped the pups off at the airport and the pet carrier service that works for the airlines would contact me with shipping info and I could arrange payment with them.

The "supposed" shipping company contacted me and wanted me to send a Walmart MoneyGram to Cameroon. That popped up a red flag, so I didnt send any money--and I didnt get any pups either (although I doubt they existed)

I googled Yorkie Scams and I saw that I'm not the first one to find out this SCAM! This is insane! Why do people do this? I was so sad that my husband had to go buy me a Yorkie the next day!

BEWARE OF THE SCAMS!!

here is an excerpt of one email:

I think you were a bit silly to even consider buying dogs from abroad which you've never met or met the owner :/

I wouldn't trust anyone who was giving away a Yorkie for free to someone they have never personally met--even for the cost of shipping fees and even if it *was* legit. It says they obviously do not care for that dog at all--and makes you wonder what is wrong with the dog.

Scams are very common--I heard of a scam where a woman called and told a woman her son had been involved in a very serious car crash (he was travelling to mexico) and she needed to send the money right away so they could send him to a hospital ASAP. Needless to say, she fell for it (who would second guess that?) and lost a LOT of money.

Never trust advertisements online which "ship puppies"

Not only do these dogs come from puppy mills, but they are many times scams like this one.

A real breeder who will place an ad will ask for you to contact them for more info either by e-mail or by phone. They will then ask you further questions about yourself & what you are looking for in a pup. They'll want to meet with you beforehand & talk extensively about yourself & the pup.

They then ask for a refundable deposit to hold a pup for you if they think they have a puppy who will fit your needs.

They would never, ever ship a dog off to someone they have never met & ask for all that money up front. They would never need you to give them a "money gram" or any other method of payment which would open up your private account info through a company like that.

There are some messed up money hungry people out there.

  • Hello Ilovemyhubby!!!!, how are you today? This is a very well known puppy scam, it's very common and almost always involves Yorkies. It's a horrible scam, too.

They do it because people continue to fall for it. These people stick with a scam until it no longer works.

I mentioned on a Catahoula message board that I was looking for a pup. Not only did I get more than one email I got emails with picture of pups I had seen on the sites of their actual breeders. Many of the pics were from a year or more ago.

This has been all over the internet and the news channels for years and Why is it people still fall for this?? I can't figure out for the life of me that people think they are going to get a dog for basically FREE and then pay a shipping fee off of your bank account and they can then drain you of every cent. Please people WAKE UP

This is a very very well known puppy scam. Unfortunately there are people who think they can get an expensive puppy for nothing and fall for it.

They are in it for the money. At least now you won't be so naive in the future.

ADD: "Gay" doesn't mean stupid and shouldn't be used as a derogatory word. It is offensive.

LOL whose stupid enough to believe Arkansas is a country! Sadly, I know people who were convinced Utah was a country -_-. I guess its people like this who buy these poorly bred dogs they think are "special". Too bad everyone is apparently going to die from the spreading plauge of malaria.
