What's a good idea for a medieval costume from the middle ages?

Please include character idea too! For a class project, the projects dumb but too bad, oh and it has to be made of stuff people would already have. Its a creative question I appreciate all answers!

    you can use fabric paint to paint a coat of arms on it and you are good to go.

    for women it should be ankle length for men mid thigh to knee length, and then wear a belt around the outside at the waist

    I bought a chainmail and coif for $90 on ebay, but it's very very heavy.

    Clerical hooded robe are a lot lighter and easier to wear, but you may need a girdle.
