health department pregnancy tests//Home pregnancy tests?

I was wondering is the pregnancy tests they use at the health department more accurate than home pregnancy tests or are they the same exact thing???

  • I just went to the health department a few weeks ago for a pregnancy test, and they had me take a urine test. At home I took a Walgreen's brand test and a first response test, and both got a very faint second line. The nurse said their test is in between the two as far as the level of hcg they test for, and I got the same result there, the second line barely showed up, but they confirmed it as a positive. Later in the week, I took my second First Response Test and it showed up 2 dark lines right away. I'm not sure if this helps at all, but a blood test is def the most accurate.

Usually at the health dept they will do a blood test, which is definitely more accurate than the home prego tests.

I'm pretty sure they are the same thing. My doctor told me that the home pregnancy tests are pretty accurate and that false results are rare.

all test r about the same!! but i kinda think that doc one or a blood test is a better way to go if you have a question about a test!

Here are some things to consider before trying to take a test again: Are you on birth control and taking antibiotics at the same time? If you are then the birth control then the anitbiotics will affect the birth control medicine, and making it fail. Ask to take a pregnancy test when you go to the doctors other than s urine test. Blood tests are alot more accurate than a urine test. These tests can detect the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) more accurately. Are you making sure that when you take the urine tests that your using the first void.(first void meaning first time you pee, like in the morning when you wake up)

If you have to pee in or on anything then YES they're the same. but if they take ur blood then their test IS more accurate.

No there the same..you pee on it and it either comes out negative or postive, also they buy there test cheaper then when you go to the store and by them, sometimes they even come from the dollar store..so theres no difference.
