God changed his mind and gave Peter a vision that all food is now OK. But "god is not a man... that he should change his mind" (Numbers 23:19). Odd....

Why do some jews eat pork when they know it's not kosher? Because they disagree.
Do YOU have any idea how much of the Bible has been lost in translation? The Bible was copied and written by hand for thousands of years. People are going to misspell stuff, rewrite something to make it sound better, cut out a sentence they think is nonsense, and there are plenty of words that cannot be accurately translated from one language to another. It's entirely fathomable that "don't eat shellfish" was written into the Bible during a time and place where people consumed them and got sick, so priests warned people "not to eat shellfish" and it got recorded into the holy book, even though it's not really needed now.
The Bible may be The Book of God, but it was WRITTEN by man.

I went to church for the first 18 years of my life at least twice a week, and eating shellfish as a sin never came up.

Jesus said we could eat anything we wanted to. So you aren't right. It is a sin (a violation of Mosaic Law) for a Jew to eat shellfish, but not a Christian.

Christians don't see anything in the OT as a "sin". they give great lip service to the 10 Commandments but don't follow them. Nor do they even follow the commandments of Jesus.
Matthew 7:1 is a great one they like to overlook.

Romans 14:2, 3. --- Jesus has come and fulfilled the law, we may eat whatever, but only if it does not offend another who still believes its wrong.
Verse 14 says, "I know and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself, but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean to him it is unclean."
Also, Acts 10:13 - 15 God tells Peter, he can eat what He (God) has cleansed.

Under the new covenant which Christians technically adhere to, it is believed to be sealed by Jesus's death and subsequent resurrection, there is no food off limits.

they know god hasn't been smiting anyone for that sin lately.
also, he's been lazy on the wearing a garment made of different threads too...so you see them skimming by with that one as well.
they just pick and choose which ones they think will offend him the most. after all, they seem to know their god so well, they certainly would know which sins are likely to offend him them most.
some of them claim to be so close to god they drive in the HOV lane.
