Can I switch out my 26x1.0 tires for 26 x 1.5 tires?
going from a khs town and country (slicks) to a manga bike (original knobbys). Any there any rear tire/chain concerns or is it all good?

You don't say what bike, but it should be fine. To verify have a close look at the current clearance between the tire and stays.fork blades. Assuming at least 3/8" clearance you should be fine.
If worried, as a precaution, bring the bike to the store when you buy the tires and get them to verify the fit, and/or agree to take back the tires if they don't fit.

you should have plenty of room for tires up to 1.95" width. remember you'll have to change the tubes too when you increase tire size.
