Which Rookie NFL Head Coach Can Carry On this Legacy?

An article in the Cowboys' team magazine inspired this question. Every ten years in recent NFL history a great coach has been hired at the end of a decade:

1959- Packers hire Vince Lombardi

1969- Steelers hire Chuck Noll

1979- 49ers hire Bill Walsh

1989- Cowboys hire Jimmy Johnson

1999- Patriots hire Bill Belicheck (Jan. 2000, but close enough)

Which 2009 hire, if any, can follow in these footsteps? Thanks for all opinions.

I'm going to have to go with Mike Singletary. He's a great traditional coach and gives great chemistry to the team. It reminds me of when Larry Bird coached the Pacers in the late 90s.

Perhaps Steve Spagnuolo will fair well, Giants' defense coordinators tend to do pretty well.

It will be interesting to see how Josh McDaniels offensive schemes work well in Denver. (But why hire an offensive mastermind when you already had one of the best offenses in the league!?)

Rex Ryan, Todd Haley, Tom Cable, Jim Schwartz(?) probably might be some light.

Raheem Morris and Jim Caldwell will be fired eventually.

To be honest with you, all these rookie coaches sound so promising but sadly, 75% won't end up being successful.

Unfortunately, the question precludes John Harbaugh since he was hired last year and not in 2009, as was, I believe, Singletary.

I don't see any in this year's batch that look like they will follow in that tradition. Even Rex Ryan may not make it far. There must be a reason that he was passed over last year for one of the positions. It was said he didn't interview well and did not come off well in the hiring process, so I wonder what was lacking.

Josh McDaniels has gotten off to a rocky start with the Broncos, Jim Schwartz has a long row to hoe with the Lions, Steve Spagnuolo has to bring D to a Rams team. Todd Haley has a job on his hands but has a great front office. My two answers will be Rex Ryan for the Jets because of the attacking defense and Todd Haley of the KC Chiefs who has the front office personnel of the Patriots. I'll give the edge to Haley beecause he has the good front office.

    Rex Ryan

Not because i'm a jetfan but because i think he's got more experience and he was a defensive coordinator of a great defense for 8 seasons that humiliated a SB team and almost upset an undefeated Pats team 2 seasons ago plus made the AFC title game last year.

He now has a defense with younger players,a very talented CB in Revis,a d-line consisting of pro-bowlers Shaun Ellis and Kris Jenkins and a talented Kerry Rhodes a saftey

I Like Steve Spanolgo because the rams seem to be finally understanding how to run an organization again.

    probably Jim Schwartz

this is because of his philosophy on defense which is good as it showed in Tenesse.

P.S.-Hi.There...John Harabough was hired in 2008 by the Ravens, not 2009
