    Hey Jon T,

Getting inquisitive is good for you. Seeds germinate by introducing water to them. If you can keep mold, mildew, mice and insects away from seeds, they can be stored literally hundreds of years.

In Virginia, at Thomas Jefferson's home, archaeologists have been digging for years looking for seeds from plant species that he had cross pollinated.

Fruit seeds can be particularly difficult to germinate, and store quite well. Look at a cherry pit - that is it's seed. There are processes to force fruit seeds to germinate because they are in a dormant state, and need to be broken open also.

So, these would store for many years. Apple, Cherry, Citrus, Peach, Nuts, and so many more meet the answer to your question.

Actually many seeds can stay possible for that lengthy if stored within the right stipulations. Meaning practically darkish and dry, with a couple of different matters that may aid. As the prior poster stated they've observed historic seeds that they have been in a position to make develop. Also world wide there are seed banks in which more than a few species and types are being saved longer term for a genetic financial institution, and in a couple of instances doomsday prep would not shock me. I think there are a couple of significant banks like this within the arctic. Also the primary one performed for clinical functions was once at Michigan State University. Where a man named Beal began one, and pulled out a couple of each and every few years to peer in the event that they might nonetheless develop, it is been lengthy ample in which they needed to develop the time they spend among grabbing a couple of ito preserve the originals from going for walks out too swiftly. As some distance as I understand they're nonetheless pulling out a few originals each and every few years, they usually nonetheless develop simply pleasant. So in brief, Yes so much seeds are ready of final possible that lengthy so long as they're stored correctly.
