Help getting my ipod to play in my car?

i just got my 2008 scion tc today and plugged in my 1st gen 8gb ipod touch with the provided ipod connector cable, and it says ipod comm error, however, it does charge it

anyone else have this problem?

how do i fix it?

    I have the same problem with mine too...I dont have a Scion, but on my Sony I can usually unplug it, count to 5 then plug it back in..seems like I do that 2 times a day
