Not a real problem, but my work PC...?

has a hard drive that sometimes makes noises when the computer has been used for a few minutes. Is the drive just sorting itself out? It's an IBM ThinkCentre with a Pentium 4 running at 3GHz and 500MB memory.

it's normal for a hard drive to make noises. Mine does, my friends does too...

Depends on what kind of noise. If it's like a fly....it's ok

    if it's like a chainsaw...that's a big problem

The first answer is good. Add to that the fact that if it sounds like two metal tubes being lightly tapped together it is a disaster.

You should have a tech support staff at work. Call them and ask them to have someone listen to it. That person should know a normal sound vs. a problem sound. Then again, it may be something other than the hard drive. Best to look into this before a problem occurs.

BTW, you most certainly do NOT have 500MB of memory. You probably have a 500GB hard drive. Hard drive and memory are totally different. Hopefully you are not using the term "hard drive" to refer to the computer. Some people do that even though it is totally incorrect.
