Legislation passed on the 'Cash for Clunkers' bill, will Obama delayed signing cause business holding pattern?

Dealers depend on regular business, especially in this down period. If it is true now, Obama will sign the bill, but not until August 1, so then wouldn't people naturally 'hold off' on trading their cars in for anything, even people who otherwise were in the market already to buy a new car?

My point is, it seems the sensibile thing here to do, if they know this is for certain happening... because they announced that fact, they may as well sign the dang bill and not disrupt commerce with struggling dealers anymore than necessary if my theory is correct there.

Is this a legitimate assessment? I wonder how much sales are going to drop for the rest of the summer now? I'm just thinking, with given the current situation, and with that news, they must have thought of that, so why would they not sign it sooner (or have held off longer from convincing everyone it would be signed)?

Or who knows, maybe they didn't think about any of that, but probably should.

Update:

I'm not sure what to think of the three responses I see here.

The fact is, the bill will be signed.

The question was, will that affect commerce, for dealers (people holding off trading in their vehicles until after the bill is signed)...

The answer is obvious (it is already starting to happen)... so why don't they move it ahead so not to affect strugglin dealers over the next six weeks? That's what I want to know.

Thanks anyways...

WOW! i almost forgot you were out there. i haven't heard from you for a while.

now my opinion on your question...i think that if you're going to wait for Obamanator to sign the bill, you'll be waiting longer than i waited for you to ask this question (ha-ha). seriously though... just because they (politicians) announce it doesn't mean that it will happen. think back to when they (politicians) said that we needed "tighter restrictions" on the "bail-out-$$$" . and then think about how long it took for them to actually do something about it. BILLIONS of your tax $$$ were squandered on lavish retreats & bonuses (and NEVER paid back). as a matter of fact most of the crooks who got the "bail-out $$$" ASKED their c.e.o.'s & overpaid employees to VOLUNTARILY return their outrageous bonuses with no retribution for those who said "F--- you".

Whatever you do, Don't count on your politicians to do what they say UNTIL IT ACTUALLY GETS DONE!

    Have-a-loving-day blphnx!

    until next time.

There is nothing that Comrade Obama ever does that does not come with strings attached! When you have a guy who is out to nationalize everything in the US don't be surprised if your clunker has to be traded in on a car from Obama Motors! Beware of creeps bearing gifts!
