Should the United States Government take it's own advice about protesters?

The United States government drafted a resolution supporting the protesters in Iran. "It also condemns 'the ongoing violence' by the government and pro-government militias against demonstrators" (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_us_iran)

However the brutality of our own police forces towards protesters as evidenced by the rallies at the 2008 DNC and RNC seems to be increasing.

Why is it that when something happens in another country we take notice but when it happens here it gets brushed under the carpet? Seems strange.

Agree. The pre-supposition that America is already perfect clouds the eyes of many from observing what is happening in front of them.∠°)

    Hmmm let me think . . .Congress . . hypocrisy . .

The answer is yes. Except Federal troops were not involved in the violence at the conventions so Congress was not to blame. Sure, the FBI etc was there but the guys with the sticks were local/State cops.

The Super Rich are getting ready for trouble, mass starvation and people in the street. Remember that global warming which they say doesn't exist? It's coming our way very quickly. So the deal is that Americans aren't supposed to protest - and if they do the news media better not cover it.

It would be great if the US has as strong a democracy as Iran!

Can you provide some specific examples of 'brutality' or examples where protesters who were obeying the law and respecting the rights of others were arrested at either convention?

Why is it that it is always liberal protesters who seem to think that they do not have to obey the law and they are allowed to interfere with the rights of others as part of their protest?

Of course. And Helios, I agree completely. With food enough to feed 12 billion people, yet that food only nourishing 5 billion people, every person who dies from starvation is consequently murdered. And as for the Overclass (that's what I call them), they have a fight waiting.

(Note to readers: Only 6.9 billion or so people on the planet)

It's only brutality when the protesters are peaceful and the police are violent.
