Is it OK to use an old gas can for lawn mower?

Economic constraints have forced me to suspend my lawn service and buy a used lawn mower. I have an old gas can (plastic) that hasn't been used in 5-10 years - it's been empty. Is there any reason not to use it now?

Naw, it should work just fine. Just make sure it has no leaks, and flip it upside down at the gas station to make sure the lid is sealing like it should.

Nope. Plastic doesn't go bad, and if there is not junk inside it, it should work fine.
