Had root canal, tooth still hurts?
I had a root canal on front canine exactly one month ago. However the tooth still aches occasionally and is quite sensitive to hot and cold, and the pain is quite bad sometimes. I was told by my dentist that the tooth is no longer living so I find it kind of strange to have that much feeling in it. Is this normal? Should I go back to the dentist to have it further examined, or give it more time?

Go back to the dentist and get it redone. A tooth shouldn't hurt after a root canal. It sounds like your dentist botched the procedure by leaving some of the infected material still inside the tooth. It's not going to go away by itself and if left untreated, the infection could spread. In my opinion, you should see another dentist to get it done since your first dentist didn't do it properly in the first place and could botch it again.

You should have it checked. My mom got a root canal a month ago and is scheduling a follow up. The site doesn't totally heal for a few months.

You need to go back to the dentist. A month is long enough for it to settle down. Sometimes the dentist cannot go deep enough to kill the root. Then he can send you to a specialist who can finish it. Not all dentists know this. I've had teeth pulled when a specialist could have saved them by drilling deeper.

Yes, go back to the dentist. Have them check the bite and surrounding teeth.
Keep after it until they figure out why. You should not be experiencing pain.

give it a day or two and then go to the dentist. That way you won't lose money if it was normal!

it will be tender for awhile but if you just wait it will eventually go away it could take awhile i had one and it worked sooner then that. so i would just wait and be cool it will go away and then you can be ok.
