Considering coming to NYC?

Don't even think about it. I've been mugged 5 times (won three confrontations) all in those neighborhoods the morons on this board tell you are safe (above 90 th street).

Tonight I was pick pocketed on a downtown 5 train from Wall st. They got all my money and now I face the NYS interrogators to recover my identity. Yes, they will make getting my ID back a nightmare.

It is easier to set bombs in this city then for a life long resident to prove who they are.

Best of all the IRS has made me poor. After emptying my accounts they told me to hire an attorney to defend myself, but any attorney wants the cash up front.

Don't come to NYC! If the streets don't get you, the Government will

Riding the 5 train is tricky, however, a blog www.dyrerider.blogspot.com will help you navigate this line which runs on the east side of Manhattan. As for the pick pocket stuff, don't allow your wallet to bulge out in the back of your pants; keep it in your front pocket and try not to stand in the middle of the train with your rear facing someone else. It's best to sit down or lean again a door. If this is not possible, be mindful of your surroundings. Also, riding the trains during non-rush hour is tricky for everyone, including native New Yorkers. You can't walk around like you're in a fantasy land merely because you have money and you come from some nice town where everyone is well off.

Seriously, when I went to New York on a vacation with my brother his wallet was gone within 24 hours. Somebody pick his pockets on the train on our way from the World Trade Center to Central Park. It happened so quick, someone bumped into him and 15 minutes later, he realized it was gone. Also, don’t wear anything white because it will be dirty when you get back home. Also, the rats and roaches are visible on the streets and walk the streets like people so be aware. Garbage bags are just thrown on the street curb in the evenings and they stink. Lastly, it is very expensive. The food is high, housing is expensive, just everything. However, it is a very exciting place.
