Is this knife legal to carry in California for hiking?
I just bought a jeep 4 1/2 inch blade. The whole knife from blade tip to back handle is 9 1/2 inches. It comes with a belt holder that have a knife strap to hold the handle with a metal button.
I live in California in Los Angles county. I want to take the knife hiking with me just in case. Some time I hike late. As long as the knife is visible, is it still illegal?

As I read CA law about knives, you are legal with this knife. Keep in mind that hiking through the streets of Los Angles will get you stopped for violating the city's laws. If you are actually hiking in the country, then you are o.k.

in florida its even legal to carry a pistol if you are hunting or hikeing in the woods, but most remove and store in the trunk unloaded and broke down , a knife, goes by the blade lenth, i beleave 4 ins is the limit here in fla, other wise it can not be in your pocket,but has to locked in a case and in plain sight on your belt, other wise they bust you for conceled weapon charge. beleave calif, and ny and jersey has lots tougher laws.

You might because my friend has the same one but he's 12 . The only problem is were in PA.
