What does it mean to "not inherit the kingdom of God"?

For instance, in the passage below, this expression is used...

19Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21

Revelation 21:1-8 describes how those who overcome will inherit the kingdom of God but 'the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practise magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulphur. This is the second death."

There are only two camps - those who are saved and those who are lost. The saved enter into the kingdom of God and the lost are cast into the second death. Revelation 20:11-15 describes how everyone will be judged according to what they have done and those whose names are not found in the book of life are thrown into the lake of fire, the second death.

That is what it means not to inherit the kingdom of God.

To not inherit the kingdom of God means to be excluded from the happiness God plans for us on earth, and to be cast into outer darkness rather than share in the wonders of eternal life in heaven.

Note that sexual immorality is imagined to be loving by the people of this world, who are ready to dismantle the great institution of marriage, by which men are civilized, women are protected, and children are educated, in order to promote serious sin.

In fact, most of the deadly sins Paul lists in Galatians have their enthusiastic fans here in R & S. God's message is that sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these will only bring misery because they are contrary to his design.

God should know, because he is our intelligent designer.

    Cheers,

    Bruce

When one accepts Jesus as their savior through faith they become a child of God. Galatians 3:26 " For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus ." We are adopted By God Ephesians 1:5 " Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will," To receive what is Gods- 1Peter 1:4 " To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,"

Well it means that whoever "continually" performs the sins listed in verses 19-21 will not receive forgiveness from God and will not receive the grace of God through Jesus Christ. Those who "continually" perform these sins will not have the Spirit of Christ in them and will not be partakers of God's Spiritual Kingdom in this current lifetime nor will they inherit the Heavenly Kingdom in the after life to come.

Now, however those who turn away from the sins and lifestyles listed will be forgiven and they will inherit the Kingdom of God. The key is that they must turn away and not continue to do these things.

It means people who indulge in works of the flesh without asking for forgiveness and not sin anymore will not go to Heaven

We enter the Kingdom of God when we are born again. Those who are not born again will not enter the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God lives within all born again believers and it is eternal.

As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said, “’I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.’ ‘How can a man be born when he is old?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again’” (John 3:3-7).

those that pervert themselves in this world will lose their inheritance in heaven, they negate the free gift given by god by their wanton desires.

It means, you aren't (or werent) saved and you will not spend eternity with Jesus in Heaven but rather with Satan in the Lake Of Fire

"Faith" isolated from life in which one lives in wicked, mortally sinful behaviours will not lead to life in full union with God in Life Everlasting
