Toilet Seat - Up/Down?
This Question goes mainly to the women of this modern day society and stems from silly arguments (the good kind) that I have with my other half.
Should the toilet seat be left up or down?
Women say down, why? why not up? in fact if there is a lid on the toilet why not close it?

Both seat and lid should be down when not in use.
For sanitary reasons, and also, because for some reason, if it is left open, things you'd rather keep clean have a way of falling in there. Yuck!

I think it looks better to have the toilet closed when not in use. Being female, with 5 males in the house, I also find it helpful that they have made a habit of putting the seat down and closing the toilet after use. To be truthful, I don't think they would have done this if we hadn't had a dog trying to drink out of it. We all agreed it was gross for the dog to drink out of the toilet so everyone was motivated by the same interests. Without the dog, well, I'm sure I would be out of luck. It bugs me when the rim is left up on the toilet because then I have to touch part of the underside in order to put it down to go so I have to wash my hands before I go and after. It's more reasonable for the person who put the seat up to be the one to put it down.

I am a woman, and yes I say the toilet seat should be down. Why? You answered your own question...if something has a lid, the purpose of the lid is for it to be down when that object is not in use. You wouldn't leave the lid off of your peanut butter jar, or any other jar for that matter.

Considering there are people in like China and Africa who don't even have the luxury of toilet seats, I really just do not care as long as there's no urine like spread everywhere. I'm only annoyed if he's made a mess and hasn't cleaned it up.
If a guy leaves it up then it's like, whatever, I'll just put it back down and go. It only takes two seconds to do so, I don't see why so many women complain about it. The only reason you should complain is if he missed and didn't clean it.
Seriously, other people in the world have to go in ditches.

Whoever uses it, should be considerate and put it into position for the next person. Men should put it down after using it, and women should put it up. If women don't want to touch a dirty toilet seat and put it down, why should a guy touch a dirty seat and put it up?

DOWN!!!!!!
I have fallen in at least twice during my midnight bathroom breaks. That is not fun.
I prefer to keep the lid closed mostly because of my dogs, and ya know, sanitary issues.

If there are women in the house then leave the seat down otherwise it don't matter.

honestly, is it really such a big problem to take 1 second out of your daily routine to put the lid down before you park your butt on the toilet?

I say, if you had to put it down, leave it down. If you had to put it up, leave it up. Then everyone has an equal amount of work to do.
Except that guys sit down to poo so they might not have to move the seat so much.
But in theory, it works!

My wife is far less concerned with the up-down position than she is about the cleanliness.
I keep it clean. Therefore, rather than be unhappy that sometimes I leave it up, she very happy that I keep it clean. I think I married well.
