Should I go with the ultrasound's opinion on the gender of my baby?

I am currently 21 weeks pregnant. I had an ultrasound yesterday(friday) and one at 18 weeks, 6 days. At the 18 week ultrasound they said they couldn't find out the gender of the baby or get to many measurements because the baby kept on staying in one corner. (Talk about stubborn like mommy lol) but this time the baby was moving a bit more but not alot. The ultrasound technician told me that she was 85% sure that the baby is female. Should I go with her opinion? I am dying to start shopping for this baby. And my sister has already started buying pink clothes. LOL. I have no idea if i should go with it being a girl. My mom said she knew it was a girl from the jump. She's always been right about things like this. (and she's been a little psychic since like forever lol) any ideas on what I should go with? And what I should do about shopping. Lol, i'd hate for the baby to come out a boy with a million pink. Thanx for any advice

Update:

she also said that in addition to the 85% that she didn't see any male parts which is why she assumed it was a female.

did they get a picture of it? three lines is a girl and three dots in the shape of a triangle is a boy.

Buy white, green, yellow and cream to start with because the ultrasound don't really come 100% true. Wait until your baby come then you'll know the sex of your baby then you can buy some pretty outfit for your newborn baby. One of my mates have been told that she was having a boy but turn out she got a little girl because it is very hard to tell between a cord and little willy which is easily mistaking as a boy. Good luck!

Well the cheapest thing to do would be to wait and maybe get another ultrasound....or you could:

go out and buy 5 outfits for a baby boy.

Then go and knock yourself shopping for a girl. That way if it turns out to be a boy you will be prepared.

But it would a tad more expensive.

Sometimes with ultra sound the baby can be in the wrong position to be 100% sure. Mind you 85% is not a bad number. Hope you and baby the best. Congratulations! :o)

Tbh, you can't take the ultrasound woman's word for sure but it sounds to me like you've already decided it's a girl.

Buy girls stuff if you want but be prepared for the fact there is a small chance it could be a boy.

we had the same issue at our 18 week u/s lol the baby wasnt wanting to cooperate since she was napping so she kicked the doctor hand and flipped over and went to sleep again lol. but they told us to assume a girl as well but we find out tuesday for sure. i would say its accurate. i would get alot of gender neutrals as those can be wrong, it does happen. they told my cousin hers was a girl and it came out a boy. i want to shop for gender things but my husband said we will get alot of neutrals just in case. but normally they are usually right.

My aunt during her whole pregnancy was told she was having a baby boy, and during delivery she found out that it was a girl! So you can not always trust an ultrasound!

no i would wait to be sure. i had a similar experince when i was 22 weeks, i was told it was a girl but my next appt i was told it was a boy. thank god i didnt buy any clothes. just buy neutral colored clothes if you want to shop that bad.
