AVG Anti-Virus Free? I update everyday and scan everyday, yet it keeps popping up with...?
As I've mentioned, i scan my laptop everyday and i update it everyday, yet yesterday i kept getting a pop up about my cookies, this happened every time i went on a new web page and it annoyed me as it's never done this before and i know they are safe because if they wasnt then it would give me a warning before i went onto the page.
I keep checking on the updater yet it still says they are a threat.
Also i've had my brother check my laptop because he is studying ICT and even he can't figure out why it keeps doing this.

I had a similar problem with AVG, and I also found that it slowed my computer to a crawl. In the end I uninstalled it and installed the free version of Avast anti-virus. You have to give them your e-mail address and they will send you a registration key which you use and you will get all the updates for a year. Then you just re-register and carry on. This updates itself practically every day and it is brilliant. I have used it quite a time now and have never had a problem with it, unlike AVG. Go to http://www.avast.com/ and follow the instructions for the free version. Good luck.

AVG is absolute crap ware. There isn't much worse with the exception of trend micro.
AVG will not protect your pc from Trojans. They walk right past it like it isn't even there.
AVG has no root kit protection.
AVG is aggravating to update.
AVG has the lowest record in detection.
AVG's real time protection is a joke. It's so bad i say it really doesn't have any. May as well not. It lets everything through.
I could keep going about how sorry AVG is. But what i have listed above should be enough to let you know what a sorry piece of junk ware AVG is. Get rid of it and get a paid version of Avira or Kaspersky. Switch to firefox web browser and set it to not except 3rd party cookies. That will go a long way in helping you with your cookie problem. I haven't had any kind of tracking cookie in 2 years. If you have high speed internet you don't need to save cookies. You can set fire fox to dump all cookies and temp files when you close fire fox. If your on dial up then you need to store cookies. Dial up is much slower. You need the cookies and temp files to help speed up page loading. But not on high speed.

Better switch on to Avast antivirus and search for a good free firewall like Zone Alarm.
Also as far as cookies are concerned you will get getting them. There are ways to block them. Go to Tools (Internet Explorer) and Internet Options. There under the Privacy, select the highest level. It will block most of the cookies. But if you do this you will not be able to access all the sites because not all the sites are secure and safe. For this better use a firewall as I earlier said.
AVG has got problems with updates.

Maybe because in tools-advanced settings-resident shield the box to scan for tracking cookies has been ticked, and some cookies are not innocent, one time my pc would for two or so seconds,I deleted all cookies that avg captured,I do that every time I have finished with the internet and had no freezing problem since.

Like any free ware AVG is a good basic protector but it needs help. www.download.com. Download Malwarebytes And Spybot Search and Destroy. Make sure it says Spybot Search and Destroy. Also if you have Windows XP go to www.microsoft.com and get Windows Defender. All are free and together work very well to stop crap-ware from messing up your computer.

Cookies are generally harmless - helpful so that you don't have to repeatedly enter information like usernames and passwords every time you visit a site.
Antivirus programs often highlight them as potential threats - just ignore the warnings so long as you recognise the site that the cookie is from.

Sorry but AVG isn't the best AV around. Try Avast along with Malwarebytes & Spybot-Search&Destroy. I had my D/T HDD fried thanks to AVG, wouldn't trust it in a fit. Now use the 3 mentioned.
My lappy I use Kaspersy Internet Suite 09 plus m/bytes & spybot-search&destroyl

Well, AVG is one of the worst anti viruses, if not the worst. Simply, don't complicate the thing with AVG, use a real anti virus like Avast home, also free and better.
