"What is the biblical Christian view of history?"

    A.Genesis through Revelation

"Do you know the historical landmarks surrounding the Christian faith?"

    A. There are so many! They mainly all happened within or near Israel.

"Does Christianity seem to be supported by historical evidence more than other religions?"

    A. YES, definitely! It's also supported by being the only book that can predict things that have been fulfilled!

    see?

    • No other book in history has been able to tell the future.

    • There are 300 scriptures talking about Jesus and prophesying about Jesus.

    A few examples:

    - In the Old Testament Micah 5:2 said that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem.

    - Matthew 2:1 says he was born in Bethlehem & it was fulfilled.

    - Isaiah 7:14 He'd be born of a virgin

    - Fulfilled in Matthew 1:23-25

    - They would pierce his hands & feet. Psalm 22:16

    - Fulfilled John 19:37

    - They would cast lots for his clothing ("cast lots" that they gambled. They were gambling on trying to win Jesus' clothing.) Psalm 22:18

    - Fulfilled in Matthew 27:35, Mark 15:24, Luke 23:34 & John 19:24

    - Not a bone would be broken. (referring to Jesus) Psalm 34:20

    - Fulfilled John 19:36

    - He'd be Crucified with thieves. Isaiah 53:12

    - Fulfilled Matthew 27:38

-In Leviticus 26:44, the Bible said that God would never allow the people of Israel to be completely destroyed. During ancient times, 10 of the 12 Tribes of Israel were decimated by the Assyrians. And the Babylonians later persecuted what was left of the people of Israel. But, instead of assimilating or perishing, some of the people eventually returned to their homeland and recover their way of life. The recovery was very complete, complete enough that Jerusalem again had been restored as the center of Jewish life. And the followers of Jesus were able to begin a process in Jerusalem by which Christianity later spread throughout the world.

    -Fulfilled Throughout history

(It goes on & on saying 300 things about Jesus that did occur later.)

**The chances of any of these things being fulfilled are less than 1 chance in 33 million.**

I got a few that can be matched into actual facts through history:

The destruction of Solomon's palace by Jesus came to pass once the roman empire took control of it; "Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." not only did they destroyed it, but also plowed the field it stood upon. as a celebration of the great roman triumph they minted a coin commemorating the destruction. the coin has a Husbandman plowing field with yoke of oxen.

The fact that many other countries unrelated to christianism, mainly Islamic ones, keep in their history the same kings as of the ones mentioned in the old testament. all of them in the same order to include Solomon and the temple.

A lot of the supporting evidence towards Christianity is based on the prophesies of Jesus. bear in mind that the old testament is almost the same as the Torah (Jewish) and similar to the Koran (Islam)

I believe Christianity is mainly supported because it adopts the old and new testament as true. without the new testament Jesus doesn't exist, therfore a great portion of the prophesies that have come to pass are tossed out. Here is an example; Judaism says the messiah is still to come. Christians believe the messiah was Jesus. Now, the prophesy about the messiah says that his lineage may be traced all the way back to the father of all nations, Abraham . all lineage was kept in a secured placed, son when the time came lineage was traceable. Guess were the records were kept; the temple of Solomon. So how is it possible to trace the messiah without the paper trail?

The Christian view of history is oral tradition written down. Like Chinese whispers of Richard the Third being a hunchback, King Alfred burning the cakes, Icarus flying too close to the sun, Moses leading his people from Egypt and a whole variety of historical urban legends, they have about the same validity and reliability, They make for interesting (maybe?) stories to tell your children but don't make very good facts for true academic and independent historians to use as references.

Christians only give them more validity for that reason- because they're christians. Independently, they have the same validity to others as the Koran holds to christians.

What do you mean "the?" There are many views of history that Christians hold.

Regarding the landmarks, sure. Many of the landmarks in the Gospel are real historical places: Jerusalem, the Temple, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Mount of Olives, the Jordan river, the sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, etc.

But there are real historic landmarks in Greek myths too. Does that make Greek myths historically accurate?

Christianity has been around since Jesus Christ came.

And there has been many findings of early churches, etc.

Not too long ago, under Saint George, they found the early Church of the 70 Elders.

There have been Christian Church foundational Mosaics found in an Israeli prison. And they included fish symbolism and maybe crosses. But I don't remember the crosses for sure. But I think there were crosses also.

And also the Old Testament has much archaeological support also. Not just the dead sea scrolls. Now they are finding old pottery with Hebrew writing in Israel locations, etc...

The Old Testament writings were in the dead sea scrolls, but not the New Testament. But in a Christian Church today, that has survived since the early Church, they have an earliest version of the Holy Bible. In Damascus. I hope to get a copy of this sometime. But they are trying to go back to old language and teach the old language bible scripture.

I think it was on 60 minutes or CBS News that this study was done.

A lot of things happened in the past that weren't written down. We cannot know if they actually happened or not. We have either evidence, or faith to go on. Some people need evidence, like Thomas, and some are able to have the faith they need.

The evidence I have seen with my own eyes makes my faith stronger, but does not determine it.

I know that there is no evidence for any type of global flood.

No evidence for god creating people.

No evidence that humans and dinosaurs co-existed.

No evidence that snakes and donkeys have ever been able to construct sentences.

A lot of the geographical places mentioned in the bible exist, but then again most of the places in Harry Potter are real - it doesn't mean that the story is true.

Very much so. The bible actually is a history of a certain people. The history of this people as you know it is slave history, and not actually there true history. It will be revealed in due time though.

The Old Testament was written so long ago we can't trace its origins. It most probably was passed down by Hebrews.

The New Testament most probably did happen. The Bible is what's called a 'biased' view on history.

I view all act of sex as gross. From the time I was in grade three I suffered from recurring cold sores. I hated them and thought they marred me. They left scars on my lips and around my mouth. By the time I was 18 I was in total despair over my self-image. On top of that I had other issues of how I thought others viewed me that wasn't very mature, but nevertheless, I developed a very bitter attitude toward the opposite sex, aside from the fact that I had 4 brothers and wasn't too impressed with my father's authoritarian methods of parenting....these factors did not help me come to any sort of agreeable way of viewing sex. I prefer food over sex if given the choice. Having examined my own attitudes toward sexual things, and seen the repercussions in my older sister's life, I would rather that sex didn't have to occur in this world, and I would say also that I hate it when people make it more important than an actual relationship. There are other things that have a bearing on my views, and none of them are biblical. The bible is a huge turn off to begin with anyway, and my upbringing didn't need the bible for me to get a perspective on my own sexuality. I'd rather be a hermit. I could live quite well enough by myself thank you very much, except that I'm very bad at making money.
