Do the British really think they're inferior to Americans?
I don't want to offend anybody, but every now and then I see answers written by British people on Y!A that make them sound lower than Americans. Some examples I've read:
We'll send our Queen in a french maid outfit to entertain your troops at your USO shows! We're behind America 100%!
America rules! The US and UK allies for life!
Gordon Brown is a sod, and our gov't is ruled by imbeciles. We need an American system now!
If you Americans need anything, we'd be happy to mail our flag as welcome mats and our children as cannonball ammo!
Please tell me if the British still have any pride and decency left. They seem to be sorely lacking in it.

Remember you're generalising an entire population.
The American political system is actually unfair in terms of electing the president. In the 2000 election, Al gore had more votes than George Bush but Bush only won because he had more electoral college votes. I know the UK system is in a state right now (with MP's expenses and all) but the Americans had elected George Bush which makes Gordon Brown seem much superior.
Although there are different education systems in the UK, they are tens times better compared to America. I don't think a lot of the kids could locate the UK on a map or explain what the UK is. Also, the NHS (National Health Service) means that everyone in the UK has health care while in America you have to pay for private health insurance which means the poor don't have health cover. We are also much better when it comes to comedy.
I'm sorry, but the UK has a lot more things going for it than America does.
PROUD to be BRITISH!

No ok these two comments

That's called taking the piss. It actually shows that the person making the comments thinks that America's involvement is crazy and doesn't back it at all.

America rules! The US and UK allies for life!
The person likes America, where is the suggestion that they don't like the UK?
and the one about the government!! They just want to be able to vote for the ruler rather than the ruling party and like Obama.
I have experience living in both and both are good and bad for different reasons. I am British and chose to move back and raise my children here, others are different. British people do not lack pride or decency but they are less obsessed with nationalistic pride and it is equated with general personal and global ignorance.

As a British serviceman, I served alongside Americans. They were far better treated, fed, equipped, and paid than us. American disliked being under British officers. They considered that British officers treated their men like lower class servants. After demob, I emigrated and have never regretted my decision. Being from a working class family, I could never have achieved the standard of living I now enjoy. No I do not believe the British are inferior to Americans , It is still very rare for any from the working classes to ever achieve commissioned officer rank. I do understand the system very well. As an NCO I once instructed young officers.

I don't know any British person that would ever, ever, ever say they were inferior to Americans. Most will say we're better than them, just being patriotic, but I think by the comments you've quoted we're just trying to get on. There's no reason to hate America, so why not love America?
What annoys me is Americans that think they're better than us. Why? because they bring up all the "we saved you in world war 2" or "we are the most powerful country in the world, Britian is weak". This really, really annoys me. We're a small island of what, 60 million people? America have millions more, and so many natural resources to keep their country strong. Yes, they are a high power, but there is a reason!
When people say we would have been invaded by Nazis if it wasn't for them, well yeah, maybe, but the American actually saying it had nothing to do with it. They didn't fight in the world war. They just want to look big. Who had the biggest empire in the world? We did. Who owned America at one point? We did. It's a balance, but neither me or the big headed american I'm speaking to had anything to do with it.
I am English and I am definitley proud! I'll never argue that we're better than America, until an American says they're better than us first. No offence, but most of them seem to do it and I'll happily argue with them all day.

The British have a different sense of humour to Americans. They don't see it as being unpatriotic to slag of the Queen or the Prime Minister. In fact it is seen as an aberration to be proud of their politicians.
I think America needs a 2nd head of state, such a monarch, or a president, in the European sense of the word, IE. a representative of the nation, rather than the leader.
That way, it would be OK to criticise the leader, without being seen as unpatriotic. therefore allowing people to question government policy and decisions, without being seen as ashamed of your nation.
You will always have the monarchists, but in reality the support for a monarchy isn't 100%.
It is seen as having an intellectual thought to question authority, and if there is anything the Brits hate, is being told who or what to support.
They do moan a lot, but that's just their nature.
I am not British, but have lived in the UK.

because of the fact the guy on your avatar is Britain's prevalent of the prevalent American! they might desire to come over right here and understand that plenty persons are way smarter than Homer Simpson. George Bush, to illustrate. he's a lot smarter than Homer Simpson.

Cutting out the people who were joking when making those type of comments:
Are you forgetting that the majority of people on here are actually teenagers? and, hate to say it, but quite a few ignorant people as well,
and your generalising a whole population through them,
people think the grass is greener on the other side, especially when they're young.
the majority of British people definitely have pride and decency left, you've just been listening to the wrong ones.

i think as much as people complain about britain, the majority are still proud to be british. I don't think many people consider themselves to be inferior or superior to america. Obviously that doesn't go for everyone. Your above examples all seem to be sarcastic too, just our sense of humor.

What you have above are some samples of our sarky humour. You wouldnt get it, being an American, and theres no way I would ever consider myself lower than one.

If you ever visit England, you'll see that they tend to actually put themselves above us and try to make us feel like the scum of the earth. Not all are like that, but they love to hate us many times. Sometimes it's for laughs, sometimes they really do just have a passionate hate for us. It usually depends on the person you talk to.
You may get the wrong idea though, because they also tend to be very cynical in their humor, which is different from our humor.
Even more, I think it depends on who our current president is at the time you ask. I never experienced thier hate until George Bush was in office, and dragged them into our war. Now that Obama is in office, they seem to like us a bit more now. funny...
