my ATI Radeon HIS X1050 will not process 1080 effectively?
My onboard video does a fine job but my card really struggles, I just wonder if it is the card?

well, the processor is weak by today's standards and that's a really, really weak graphics card that probably does not support hardware-accelerated 1080p playback, so its a combination of both the cpu and the graphics card. if you get a newer card that does support hardware-accelerated 1080p playback (just about any reasonably recent card does), that should help a lot.
