if your prone to stretch marks there is not much you can do to prevent them mederma helps minimize scars you can try that but results take a while so be patient!

I have used the cocoa butter every day also...I'm 27 weeks and I just started seeing them. The cocoa butter helps you not get so many, but with our skin stretching so much so fast, I think some of the stretch marks are going to come whether we sit in cocoa butter 24 hours a day! The good news, I hear, is that they fade pretty well afterwards and sometimes you can barely even see them afterwards! Hope this happens for the both of us! :)

  • As has already been stated, there's nothing you can do to keep from getting stretch marks.

The lotions will help keep them from itching, which will make sure they don't turn into sores, which will inevitably keep them from getting really bad. And some lotions have ingredients that minimally assist in the healing of them too, and in somewhat minimizing their appearance.

I used a super good lotion while I was pregnant and it helped keep it from itching really bad. I still have them, and sometimes they get sore still for some reason, it just happens.

Try not to get upset about them, though, because there's no way to fix the problem except maybe by plastic surgery, and I'm not convinced it's really worth that.

They are beauty marks given by carrying a baby in your womb.

They may not be gorgeous by most people's opinion, but what counts is what you think of yourself, and I've decided that they just add complexity and dimension to who I am.

Hi Marlo, I'm not sure of you have tried the product Bio-oil as you don't say, but it really helped me. I have very large hips and I'm a larger girl so I have quite large breasts. I had large purple-pink stretch marks all over my hips and coming down towards my thighs, and on my breasts. I used Bio-oil when I first started noticing these marks as they really bothered me. In a few months they had all faded to a pale silver or were completely gone. I don't use Bio-oil anymore, as I have no more stretch marks, but as soon as I notice anymore I'll use it again. I love Bio-oil and plus, it smells really delicious, a bit like cinnamon buns :) I realize that there has been several bad reviews of the product, but it worked for me and my cousin. We both had really bad marks, now we don't. Try Bio-oil. I hope this product helps you as it helped me :) Good luck xo

As everyone has said there is nothing you can do to prevent them BUT I used cocoa butter on my first pregnancy and was ridden in stretch marks.I don't think it did much at all, plus I was still really itchy. On my second pregnancy I used bio oil which I found much better, and I didn't get any extra marks or any itching.

I sympathise with you - I found it hard to come to terms with. There is some good news though - they really do fade with time. I barely notice mine now.

  • Stretch marks are genetic.

Make sure your drinking lots of water. And continue using the lotion!

I got stretch marks on my butt! I already had some on my hips and they're just getting worse. I've been using cocoa butter, and this lotion by avon but the doctors say there isn't anyway to avoid it.
