Where would I be able to find a parrot sitter?
I live in Melbourne and I am going away on holiday for ten days. I have a very cute, curious and cheeky 2 yr old sulphur crested cockatoo. Friends & family will only be my last resort. Basically, because none of them are really "parrot orientated...so what Im looking for is maybe a reputable service that specialises in parrot care, wont just keep him couped up and be caring as well. Any suggestions out there? My appreciation in advance.
Skydanze, thanks for all of your suggestions and certainly, I need to take a lot into consideration.

I can't be specific for you because I'm no where near you. However, in that situation, there are two ways I would try, if it were me. I would try to find pet sitters, then interview any that say they also care for birds. Also, check with all the vets, particularly Avian vets if you have any. Ask them for a recommendation. They may have clients who are also bird sitters. Maybe not the best so far as getting out of the cage much but good so far as the care you know the bird would get, would be to find a vet who also does boarding. Here in the states, there are some bird stores that will do boarding but that would be my last choice, at least around here. The situation would have to be thoroughly investigated before I would leave a bird for boarding at a store. Also, if you have any local bird clubs, you might contact them for referral to someone who might board him at their home for you. Sorry I can't be more specific but maybe these hints might help.
