Intrepids with the 3.3L and 3.5L use chains, no belt and will cost, parts and labor out here on the West cost will run about $1000.00 ( on high end with the 3.5L) a dealer at a $95.00 an hour labor rate. the 4.7L no idea would have to look it up
Source(s): Old Mechanic Opps I stand correcteded sort of, the 3.3 is a chain and the 3.5L is a belt, but I thought a different generation 3.5L was chain. But here is the most current info I could find. Try this link http://www.allpar.com/mopar/33.html read the whole page. And both still would be almost a grand to repair and not a 4.7L wrong again, the 2.7L would be more - done wrenchingLv 71 decade ago
Jeez, the 01 intrepid had a timing chain if a 2.7. The 3.2 and 3.5 use timing belts and are much cheaper to replace than the silly 2.7 chain kit.

At this time, a quality job would be 4-500$. But it will be done correctly and best of all, with a warranty.
