Looking at buying a car, what does carfax reveal?
Looking at buying a car, and the VIN # states on look-up that it has 15 entries on this car. But I have not purchased a car fax report yet. What could be revealed for a whopping 15 entries on any car for that matter. Why would a single car have so many entries. What shows up on a car fax or other brand report?

Entries on a carfax could be change of ownership, change of state, lien removal and lien applied, registration renewals also show up because it reports mileage. So 15 entries adds up fast.

A Carfax report contains a lot of stuff you wouldn't be interested in but it might (and I repeat, might) show major accidents or flood damage, which should be of interest to you.
A Carfax report does not in any way tell you the condition of the car. The car could have a blown engine and it would not appear in the report. The ONLY way to determine a used car's condition is to drive it and have it checked out by a qualified mechanic.

Who knows. The ~$100 you pay a mechanic to check the car over, which is more important, will tell you more than a Carfax ever will...

The reports include information on titles or vehicle brands, ownership and registration history, mileage and may also include accident indicators, service records, and other types of information. To view a sample report, visit http://www.carfax.com/vehicle_history/opt2.cfm .
