how do you get cigarette smell out of clothing?

i purchased some lycra gym wear online and when it arrived , whilst in excellent condition , it smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke. i can only assume the house where it came from had heavy smokers and everything was exposed to the smoke , 1 garment still had tags on so it wouldnt have been worn while smoking. is there anything , apart from repeated washing , to get rid of the smell. i have washed them several times now and can still smell it.

White vinegar. Half a cup in the wash.

    ewww gross!

Try a desanitising spray - available from supermarket.

    E.g. Glen 20.
