unemployment questions - Ohio?
On the UNemployment website (Ohio), it asks the reasons for separation:
discharge
disciplinary layoff
lack of work
leave of absence
mutual agreement
quit
retirement
still employed
strike/lockout (labor dispute)
voluntary separation/buyout
I don't know how to answer this - none of these answers really fit the situation. There was a layoff across campus (I worked for a university), and my contract just was not renewed. How do I answer this in case I would need to appeal it? (I have been told the university fights all unemployment claims.) Any suggestions?!?

The ONLY thing my Separation Notice said was that my contract wasn't being renewed, but it did not list any reason. My supervisor(s) wouldn't give me any reason when I asked them. (I begged them to give me a reason.)
The university where I worked is building a new football stadium. I was told there were state budget cuts, and so there was a Reduction In Force across the University. But the answers listed by the Unemployment questionaire don't seem to really "fit" my situation, so I didn't know which one to pick.

They were supposed to give you a separations notice which shoud have the reason listed, but it sounds like lack of work would take care of it.

Well, your contract expired and wasn't renewed. Odds are, you're not going to be eligible for unemployment. that's exactly WHY you were hired with a contract, from year to year.
You can put lack of work, but if the employer contests it, they're going to win.

Carl must not be from the mid west. I wonder what magical place he exists in where jobs are offered to everyone out of high school.
