When you listen to Mormons talk, their beliefs sound kind of normal in comparison to the Bible. But, when you lay them down next to what Christians believe, it's easy to see just how different their beliefs really are. Mormons believe that Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are three different gods.

This is different than the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, which says that God is one being with three distinct revealed personalities. Mormons believe that God was once a physical person. They believe that right now, God has one or more wives in heaven. Jesus was once a man who became God. He was only a physical man, not God the Son, while he was on the earth.

Jesus was not the result of a spiritual act of the Holy Spirit in Mary's life. He was the result of Joseph and Mary having sex. Mormons believe that each man, who is worthy, living on earth will one day be the god of their own planet. They believe that each women will one day live on the planet of which her husband is the God. A husband and wife will have the chance to have spirit children together after they're dead. Mormons believe that before babies come to earth they exist in heaven. While they're in heaven learning things.

Mormons believe that African Americans are descendants of Ham, Noah's son, and are black because their ancestors sinned and were cursed by God. After governmental intervention, the church officially changed its position on polygamy and said that its members can't marry more than one person. However, there are still more than twenty-five-thousand polygamous marriages in Utah. Mormons who are really serious about their faith take a two-year mission trip, usually between high school and college.

They believe in God and heaven, though their understanding of both is not biblical. They deny Jesus' essential deity. According to Mormonism, He is similar to all men. In that He became God through his obedience and personal worthiness. The whole idea that men get their own planets to rule after they die is not biblical at all. And Moroni the Angle coming to Joseph Smith? Not part of the Bible either.

Wow - Mr. McKenzie just gave one of the wrongest answers I have ever seen on here!

Bizarrely, the Book of Mormon and the Bible agree in doctrine. An evangelical friend of mine read it through, and found that it supported the Bible in many respects. Very few non-Mormons know that.

There's not actually much doctrine in it, it is mostly a history, but where it does make doctrinal statements they often seem to agree more with the evangelical position than the Mormon position. For example, the Book of Mormon appears to support the Trinity doctrine, which Mormons don't believe.

I don't think the issue of them differing has ever come up, but my personal favourite is the Bible, possibly because I grew up as an Evangelical Christian so I know it much better. Although I'm a Mormon now, I still find I give the authority of the Bible much more weight.

previous testomony New testomony yet another testomony The e book of Mormon settles each question Christianity is split on - as an occasion: The function of baptism. Who does it. How. what's to be reported. who's to be baptized. whilst are they meant to be baptized. the relationship of Jesus to God and the Holy Ghost interior the Godhead the relationship between faith, works, mercy, grace, justice, repentance Covenants regarding the abode of israel interior the final days How the sacrament/eucharist/communion is to be administered - how, by skill of who, whilst, what's to be reported - issues that have been lost for hundreds of years with the dying of the apostles - and that are hinted interior the bible, yet are not spoke back therein. Its translation of the e book of Isaiah differs from the bible, yet is the comparable as a results of fact the ineffective Sea Scrolls translations of the comparable. It makes prevalent the covenants of God concerning Christianity on the american Continent, or the covenants regarding the land its self, as nicely as is composed of prophesies regarding the american Revolution, the invention of the Americas, the Savior's start, and the strengthen of the Lord's Kingdom interior the final days, and diverse warnings regarding the corruptions of governments earlier the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ - that's an spectacular e book! This and countless greater issues are what are interior the e book of Mormon: yet another testomony of Jesus Christ. that's the reason the e book is so effectual to Christianity.

If you have ever read both then you will see that they conflict. When it comes to concepts that both have it is obvious. Now comes the question of what will you do with the knowledge. The Bible, as we have it now, has been accurate and reliable from all aspects. no matter how one looks at it, it is God, The Creator, telling His creation like it is and how to know Him. Time and again He has said that He is letting us know these things so that when they happen we can't say that it just happened. Hope that helps and God bless you in Jesus' Name!

The Bible is the most supported manuscript in all of history. The New Testament alone has over 25,000 supporting text. The Iliad is the next most supported manuscript with only 6,000 supporting text. Therefore, any book that contradicts the Bible is in error.

Any religion that equates extra-Biblical texts with or places them above the Bible is in error.

The bible is inspired by God - he directed the writing and ensured accuracy of content, including prophecys and facts such as the earth hangs upon nothing - this statement was made at a time when people believed the world sat on the back of an elephant!

“all Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17

Mormon church leaders had based their FORMER race ban on passages in Joseph Smith’s “Book of Mormon” and “Pearl of Great Price.” God tells us in the bible to love our neighbour but a racist attitude was supported by the book of Mormon - thereore, I would have to say that the book contradicts Gods inspired Holy Scriptures

At this Peter opened his mouth and said: Acts 1: 34 “For a certainty I perceive that God is not partial, 35 but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him

    Book of Mormon - 2 Nephi 5:21-23:

"And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them."

"And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities."

"And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it, and it was done."

Mormon Doctrine, p. 343 - Negroes in this life are denied the priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty. The gospel message of salvation is not carried affirmatively to them... Negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain spiritual blessings are concerned....

However, my response is not intended as a personal criticism of LDS members as they were not provided with Godly counsel in this matter....which tends to happen when one strays from the Bible

They are both 'correct' in their own context. the Bible is definitive for Christianity, and the BoM for Mormonism.

There may be areas of agreement, but it is a bit like asking whether a cookery book and a travel guide agree or conflict, and which is more correct where they differ.

    *** Jerusalem or Bethlehem.

Alma 7:10 And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem

    or

Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

*** flesh bodies restored like now or spirit bodies at the resurrection:

Alma 11:43 The spirit and the body shall be reunited again in its perfect form; both limb and joint shall be restored to its proper frame, even as we now are at this time; and we shall be brought to stand before God, knowing even as we know now, and have a bright recollection of all our guilt.

    or

1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

*** Grace after all we can do, or pure grace.

For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do (2 Nephi 25:23)

    or

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.

*** Pray to know truth or research truth and test the spirits.

Moroni 10:5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

    or

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

*** Holy Spirit "It" or "He".

2 Nephi 32:5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.

    or

    John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

*** Jesus is "a son" or "the son". A minor, but important difference.

Alma 36:17 I remembered also to have heard my father prophesy unto the people concerning the coming of one Jesus Christ, a Son of God, to atone for the sins of the world.

    or

1 John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

These are just some I ran across over the years. I've Googled it and found more, but that's kind of cheating.

So, they are different. LDS have some explanations for the differences and claim that the Bible has been compromised from translation errors and stuff. Personally, I think we could discuss it all day and not get anywhere.

They agree, though most people don't think so.

As for which is being more correct - the Bible is made of many books, written from many languages, all translated to English.

The Book of Mormon was all one language, and was translated with God's help, directly. For that reason, I would say that the Book of Mormon was more correct, but only because of the way it was translated.

The Bible is just as true -they are both testaments of Jesus Christ. However, there are mistakes in the wording of the Bible because of how it was translated. The Kings James version is the closest English one to "being correct".

Mormonism was created by some lone dude out in some woods. Okay, does that sound like credible religion to ya?
