i had a new Trane 1 1/2 ton put in my house last year. My house is 1900sqft and, if i remember correctly, was around 2000 bucks

Call around and ask for at least three estimates. Compare the estimates, but you need to be sure you're comparing like for like. It's almost impossible to tell you what it cost for a complete system to be installed in YOUR house. Every house is different, so you can't use prices that other people have paid for systems as a comparison. The cost could be anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000 and up.
