going to new places , what to do so my horse enjoys it and i do to?

im taking my horse to the beach for the first time, he's a thoroughbred and 10 so this will be special for him.

I'm a bit worried about how he will go with the surf and water, how should i go about introducing him to his new surroundings so he can relax and i can too.

This will also be a big week for him because he will be travelling probably the furthest he's ever gone and we have to make a pit stop at tick station so he can get sprayed before moving off into the new area.

the drives only 2 hours though but we are staying at the beach for the week.

First, I would just bridle your horse or walk him on a lead and halter and let him check out the beach. Let him sniff the sand and water, and if he spooks just let him graze and try going back again. If he definitely doesn't like the beach, then just stay on the sand and away from the water.

    Hope I helped!

Well, All you really can do is give a few days to settle in the new place. it might take 1-3days since hes going to be staying there. And he has to get use to the evaporated salt in the water which may make a huge difference in his temperament But if you love this horse and he loves you Im sure y'all will do just fine:) The drive really doesn't concern me just long if you stop every now and then. And give some water and food. Some people prefer lunging every now and then at a stop cause some horses get really anxious in the trailer for a while just like we do!

    Hope I helped!

2 hours isn't so far but the beach is going to be a big difference. Are there going to other horses there that have been before and won't be scared? If so allow him to follow them for a little while until he realizes that there is nothing to fear.

If you are relaxed and confident he should be too. Relax and have fun! That is one of the things on my bucket list, I'm jealous :(
