will the USA "take care" of its health care system?
well, i'm not American, i also don't want to be one.
I was watching TV when they showed a video of a woman being kicked out of a car in front of a charity like place, when they talked to her they discovered that she is a 70 yr old woman that was kicked out of a hospital because she didn't have money. It's not only about health care system, it's about humanity, how can u do that to a person?
the USA may have advanced technology but what does that help americans with if having medical attention costs usually more than the income of an average american?
in many countries, including third world countries"as u call them", people go into hospitals for free, Canada, Britain,France,Cuba(the devil's house as u call it). in fact Cuba has such a great system that it also helps other "third world countries" in this area
let's talk about us, the Barbarian arabs, in iraq u get medical care for free.. at the times of Saddam, he used to give each family food every two months that is enough for them.
let's talk about the "first world countries". in Britain, u get medical attention for free except for some cases. There are cashiers in hospitals there, but guess what? they don't take money, they give money to people if they don't have money to go home!!
Having free medical care and paying more taxes for that doesn't mean socialism will be the way u live, it just means (help others so they help u when u r in need)
I think that America is a great nation without good leadership.
don't get me wrong i'm not (Anti-America) person. I just don't like u guys.
and1play...
i'm telling u to think not how to think
Ws
if u pay more taxes to help other ppl now, if in the future "god forbids" u have cancer, they will take care of u for free, and the money u paid for taxes will come back to u in that way.
it's better than paying taxes to enter wars
lndrs
i agree with u about the (gold age) and about concidering about Obama as the savior.
but in those countries u can get medical care for free if u were poor, only those who have money go to private hospitals
what is going to happen if all the hospitals in Austrailia are private?
regerugg...
u said the hospital must treat the poor?
there was an american man on TV that cut two of his fingers accidently, when he went to the hospital they told him that one of them costs 12000 $ and the other costs 60000$ to put it back, u have to choose which one u can afford. is that what u call free health care for the poor?
i didn't say it was totally for free, i said the tax payers afford it, and get the benifit when they r sick.
those canadians that came to the usa had the money and didn't want to be put on a waiting list
stumpedI...
i agree that the insurance companies are big part of ur problem

oh u r VERY wrong, individualism will be good for the rich and the ones who have the money, it is very bad for the poorer ones.
here is the result of what will happen, there will be more rich people and more poor peopls but less people in the middle so there will be a gap in the middle and the poor will revolute against the rich, and ur country will go upside down.It will be like the new feudal system.
i'm not saying that america should be social.
but individualism doesn't help.
fortheim...
socialism is wrong, there should be varities of peoples in a country, if we are all the same, who will lead? who will clean the streets. It's wrong.
But capitalism is also wrong, countries that follow this system ends up by revolutions that search for socialism.
all i'm saying is, people should help each others
and let's think.
if u pay 10 or 20 or 30... extra dollars , multiply that by the population of the USA, it will be a number that will help the poor and the rich to get medical health for free.
This is all i'm saying
Belle
i just wanted to say that u r 95% right
the other 5% is for u saying that u r emarrassed to be american, it's part of ur nation's probelm
to be honest i didn't expect some of the answers, one said(we r individuals, who doesn't have the money should die). that's what i understood and i'm deeply shocked.
it's not the leadership that is the problem, it's also the people.

You are 100% right about America. America has out grown her britches, so to speak. Social services are a laugh. Why do you think crime is higher here in the states than in other countries? Part of the problem (not all of it) has to do with people who are down and out needing help. Our elderly are forced to choose between food and medicine. As for who cares for the elderly goes, unless they have family who will step up to the plate, they are often forgotten about and just left to die alone. It is so sad.
Americans are so selfish. Mine, mine, mine society. They don't care about others who are in need. As long as they get theirs, that is all they care about. It burns me up. I have always helped my fellow human, in many different ways, and it is people like many of the posters here on YA that makes me deeply ashamed to be American. To be perfectly honest, this country is going down a sh*thole. Not because of Obama, I think he is actually trying to turn this country around for the best. But it may be a case of closing the barn door after the horse has already gotten out.
Also, as for government run health care being bad. Yeah, lets go with that. Every other developed country, and a lot of 3rd world countries, have Universal Health care. So who is wrong? America or other countries? Yeah, American will naturally think they are right. Back to the conceitedness of Americans. I can tell you right now I have private health insurance, and we pay a LOT out of pocket each month on premiums, co pays and deductibles. I don't give a fig if the government runs it. It would be cheaper each month for us if they did. As for the government deciding who can get care and who can't, I have had to argue with our insurance company to get them to cover services, treatments, surgeries and medicines. It won't be any different.
I will stop with my little rant now. It just ticks me off, people who have never lived in another country (I have) think that the US is superior, and then they also have a selfish mindset as a culture. Disgusting really.
Belle
PS..I am a born and bred American, and highly embarrassed by it.
regeru....You are dead wrong. Only hospitals who are funded in full or partially by the government, are required to treat people who do not have money to pay. Private hospitals can and do turn people away every day.

The HEALTH CARE system will stay exactly as it is...the only change, should change happen, is to the HEALTH INSURANCE system. The HEALTH INSURANCE industry will have some competition and a few new rules. All the other BS you hear on right wing radio and FOX 'News' is exactly that...BS. If you can mount an argument against a low cost and easily accessible 'public option' non-profit INSURANCE COMPANY, let's hear it. But to rail against a government take over of the HEALTH CARE system is a red herring if there ever was one. NOBODY has ever suggested such a thing, and for the HEALTH INSURANCE industry to try to convince people that such an idea is even possible is a fraud, a lie and totally is dishonest.

Only if people in the USA vote for it. And as Nader did not get elected in the last election, universal healthcare is not coming to the USA.
First of all, Obama is not going to bring in universal healthcare, a fact that many people (including those who voted for him) seem not to realise. He wants to make insurance more available to all.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

First of all, nobody goes into a hospital 'for free'. Somebody is picking up the tab, guess what, it's you! Hows your pay check look? What percentage of your earnings do you actually keep?
America was founded on the principles of individualism and self-reliance. It is morally wrong to expect others to pay for you. You have no right to FORCE others to be responsible for you, you are responsible for your self. This is what America stands for. Because each individual is not weighed down by all the responsibilities of the world, they are empowered to succeed. More money in your pay check means you have greater means to pursue happiness, and your success will resonate throughout the economy and help fund medical research, etc.
This philosophy is proven. Europe has struggled to stay competitive and has moved away from the collectivist, socialist philosophies of the past. Why do you think America is at the forefront of new medical technologies, and etc..? Our economy, based on the principles of individualism ( meaning that the whole is made better by empowering the individual, not the other way around) is the most prosperous, and effective in the world.

FYI: i have lived "abroad" for about 15 years.
The U.S. system has its flaws, and STILL is the BEST in the world.
Capitalism is the problem?
The irony is this:
the socialist, left wing weenies countries in Europe and around the world have been SPONGING off of the american capitalist system for DECADES, because their system DOESNT WORK.
The American system has been bled dry, and now that it is collapsing, they look down their long sloped nose and gloat.
What I really regret is that my uncle died on Normandy Beach to save wine drinking, cheese farting socialists from Hitler.
Europe would have been better off with him.
At least you wouldnt have to support some low life that wont work, or have cradle to grave welfare.
You hated the Jews anyway, and caused them to be slaughtered, turning a blind eye, feinted ignorance, and called on America to bail you out.
OVER AND OVER.
LOSERS
EDIT: those of you who dont like Capitalism, DO NOT go to:
Hungry Jack's (Burger King)
McDonalds
Pizza Hut.
KFC
DONT buy a Coca-cola, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, etc.
REFUSE to have a GPS (rented U.S. military satellites).
STAY OFF THE INTERNET, it was developed with AMERICAN military funding.
If it wasnt for American capitalism, you would still be shoveling horse crap off the street.
After WWII, almost SEVENTY PERCENT of ALL ships on the ocean were AMERICAN.
So much for Capitalism being a failure.
Our problem is we have too much compassion for socialist losers who have governments that suck, and give them aid.

In Australia where im from, our medicine is free but we pay higher taxes and if we want operations to happen you will be placed on a waiting list. We have private healthcare if you have the money to afford it.
I hope America does take care of the health care system and Obama is trying very hard but it just seems to me that everyone thinks Obama is the savior. He is in some sense but everyone has to play their partl.
USA is not as strong as it was, their golden age is over. God help them, the poor and middle class america pay the price.
- regeruggedLv 71 decade ago
You are wrong on two counts. In the US we have a law that requires hospitals to treat patients even if they do not have money to pay.
Secondly, health care is not free in any country. It has to be paid for with money, with insurance or with government taxation.
Do some research. Find out how many Canadians, who cannot get free health care, come to the US and pay cash for their treatment. Start with the Cleveland Clinic.

The feeling is mutual. America is a great nation under bad leadership, and we dont like you either...

the american health care system is suffereing from terminal cancer..
the cancer is the insurance industrys..
they are cancers.. because they profit.. and exist.. to deny health care to americans.. people DIE because there are insurance companys denying them care..
this is why they are a cancer.. they are killing the host.. they leech off.
i thank you for your comment.. because i also think we are a great nation.. without good leadership.. our leadership is corrupted and serves corporations.. not the american people..
