Homage to the NHL or Affront?

Ironically, both times the horn was sounded it was in cities that also support NHL teams

Update:

Over the past few weeks MLB has been running through the annual Interleague (American League vs National League) part of their schedule. During a few of these games I noticed that a couple of American League teams sounded a hockey goal horn when a player from the home team hit a homerun. Do you or would you consider the use of a goal horn by baseball teams as an homage or an affront?

Update 2:

Joe is correct. The NHL/MLB cities were Tampa and Toronto. I'm not sure if any other baseball teams are doing this.

Hmmm....something I hadn't noticed. I doubt it would be meant to insult....especially if it were Detroit, Texas.....or the ChiSox (soon to be anyways) seeing as the baseball owners are also hockey people.

    Therefore, i'll guess an homage.

Matt Stairs got a huge ovation from the Toronto crowd when entering the game in the latter innnings. ;)

Yeah I think it was the Rays and Jays that had the horns? The Jays I can understand being in Toronto and the Rays I guess I can understand because the Rays need all the help they can get to get fans.Surprised they don't have a ship in Center Field so a bomb goes off everytime they score(Much like the Buccaneers)..

I like it and I hope the Phils don't adopt this though,I like hearing Harry the Ks voice saying "It's outta here" instead of a goal horn.

Bob-In my eyes,Matt Stairs can never do any wrong...He can run over my mom on purpose and at the trial I would say "Yeah but his homer off of Broxton was huge!!!"I went looking for a Stairs jersey last week and couldn't find one,I had to settle for Hamels.

I thought I would like to put my 2 cent in and say that every team in every sport should use a horn…..maybe it would make other sports a bit more interesting and wake up people like me when things actually happen. :P
