GM Autoworker Retirement Party Ideas?
Need ideas for a Surprise car crazy hubby/pipefitter who will retire early with the buy-out but will officially retired, May 2010. Plan on inviting 150 guests. He owns a beautiful restored 65 GTO, and loved his job as much as his GTO. For 30 yrs, his car tag reads "Generous Motors - I Love My Job". He never missed a day, and got along excellent with his co-workers. Any ideas for (food, decorations, games, gift ideas, photos, invitation,phrases/quote, slides, karaoke, music, (not 50's please) etc..ANYTHING on how to "get this party started" would be so appreciated! Must consider cost...Should I invited kids, if so, would it be tacky that they could share some fun for about 1-2 hours, then send them home - or just simply state "parents, please be responsible for your kids" there may be beer, no hard liquor.

Do a sausage sizzle for that many people. Get tons of the breakfast sausages and fry up a few at a time with onion rings and sliced bread buttered.
Serve bread sausage and some rings with a squirt of mustard, steak, tomato, or BBQ sauce.....next please.
A breakfast sausage is the same diameter as a hot-dog but is half the length and isn't a hot dog.
Some one else could be warming batches of plain or curried steak stew and fluffy white rice....a dollop of this and of that mate ....and line up where some one else will serve you a baby shepherds pie.....and move along mate......you don't want to hold up the production line.
